Are you going to be running your RTT on this trailer?

If so one thing I noticed right away cuz personal experience making my own crossbars for my cap was if you mount the tent to open to driver or passenger side the tent mounting tracks will line up with the light boxes.. I care across a similar issues with my tent, the tracks lined up exactly where the feet were welded to the crossbars, but was able to fanagle it to work. You could flip it to the rear to avoid moving the lights by adding two more pieces to the roof rack making it a square. It’ll add more weight as well which I gather you like

Hey Chux, thanks for looking out. I’m not using a RTT with this trailer though. I’m getting a really nice ground tent. The roof of the trailer would Not support a RTT with us in it.

I thought about building a tent rack off the frame, but TBH, I’m kind of over the RTT idea.

I’m not planning to use the trailer every trip either. The Tent that I ordered is quick setup and stored in a LONG water proof bag. The rack is to carry that.

I’m also looking at making a quick mount awning solution for the trailer rack for my ARB awning. That way, I can also use my awning room.

I’m making a simple rear bumper right now. After that, I’m going to tackle the awning.

Unless I run out of argon. It’s getting close.

I’m thinking about having the box media blasted. I had to pull it out to get some good pics for the guy who would do it.

Really happy with how this turned out. Doubt I’ll end up selling it.

Looks good. I may have missed it but what color you painting it? Also you may not sell it but you'll put it up for sale.

Close to the original Grey color that’s on the inside.

    Who knows? I may

By "media blasted" I'm assuming that's bead blasted.

Media blast, sand blast, bead blast, whatever media won’t warp those side panels.

The guy didn’t get back to me today. Which is probably a good thing. Seems every time I pay someone to do something, it ends up being done wrong anyway. Normally, I end up having to fix it, or re-do it.

I have a gravity feed sand blaster. I should probably just do it myself. I’ll just go easy on the side panels. Maybe just work them in here and there as I do the box.

For some reason workmanship ethics have gone to hell in a hand-basket.

Sand blasting is way too abrasive and damaging in my opinion. A plastic bead blast should clean that old prize up nicely. The Sears logo must be preserved at all costs!

Sadly, you’re 100% correct about workmanship and ethics.

As far as the Sears logos, my plan is to have them remade. I’ve already looked into it.

there is a show I watched a while ago where he restores antiques, and for sand blasting old metal he actually used crushed up wall nut shells or something like that. was pretty cool
