What have you done to your Tacoma today? 1st Gen Edition

Absolutely. Wouldn’t mind if they shaved some weight off of it too. I need to build a setup for it to get it on and off the truck it just about killed my buddy and I.

 

Yeah lighter and stronger all around. If they used aluminum now instead of wood it would save some weight im sure.

My dad built a cool topper lift using a cheap small atv winch. We use it all the time to take the RTTs and toppers off. Super easy to do.

Yeah I'll take my heavy ass Wildernest for $500 over that....for now, haha. I'd love to build a pulley system but am currently without a garage. Hopefully we will be building one in the next year or two and it sure will make my life with truck maintenance easier. The wife doesn't want to de-ice her car in the morning so that's how I'm selling it.

That is exactly what i want to do once i finally clean out my garage from the move last year...ill ask again how it has been holding up by the time I get around to it. Did it just take a few hours or?

 

Converted my 04 dome light system (auto off) to standard dome operation. No more hot resistors and blinking dome lights. I'n the process of upgrade dash to LEDs

 

To make? idk. i didn't help build it. But its pretty simple. Can't take more then a few hours. Just some 2x4s which screws, some cable that need cut and pulleys. Pretty much it.

Had it for like 3 years. We did end up putting another 2x4 under the support beams to raise the tents/toppers just to make it hold more weight.

That's all thats changed though. Works great.

 

Oh shit its already trail tested then haha, yeah i got a ton of 2x4’s left from my fence, just need to get the pully system winch etc. figure a couple hours to build and a day of fiddling....sure does look like an easy swap though.

 

I washed the truck trying to get rid of the salt off.

 

yeah helps a lot and also works well for storage if you aren't using it at the time.

Test fit the wheels, looks like Ill be poking a lot with the spacers. They are far from hitting the calipers, not sure if that has anything to do with the spacers. Also rotated the tires.

 

Yeah that has everything to do with the spacers, d windows usually scrub the face of the caliper.

 

Ah I assumed monte meant the front of the caliper for some reason I think I'm gonna keep the spacers anyway, would probably rub the frame without them
