Left the house one day in my 2016 Black SR5 Auto (I bought it new and had it about 4 months), came home with a brand new 2017 white Sport MT, and I've never looked back.

My wife just shook her head - she is very understanding...

i test drove 2 just to see about headroom and the seats. actually there was no test for, just sitting in it. i ordered my MT sight unseen just knowing there are things to correct with the mod money. there will be problems, there will be fixes, NBD.

I'v got 17K miles on my 17. Most trips are on the interstate at 65, 70, and 75mph. Interstate is flat but runs north and south, I'm either running with or into Kansas wind.

Tank averages vary greatly for me, between 16 and 19. Trip averages can be as high as 21mpg, or as low as 7 (especially if I let my truck "warm up" in the morning.)

Look at my fuellie. You can see every single tankful since new. In 34K miles, I can confidently say that the truck gets 17.6MPG average. I have a light foot and stock tires and drive 50/50 hwy/city. I've NEVER broken 20, and have expressly tried to several times. Best was like 19.8MPG but that's 55 on flat ground with a tailwind for the whole tank.

I average around 18mpg with 265/75/17 tires and an aluminum plate bumper. I got 19-20 before the bumper. 40k miles on the clock. As good As I ever expected to get out of this truck, if I want decent mileage I drive my RSX.

FWIW (for what it's worth) - I took delivery of my 2017 Off Road DCSB manual trans in April 2017, brand new. As of yesterday (most recent fill up), you can see in my .sig below what my Fuelly app calculates my MPG has been. I currently have 13,6xx total miles. I have made _NO_ mods of any kind to the truck, even has OEM tires still on it. I have about a 35 mile round trip work commute every day. I live in northern CA, in the Sierra foothills, at about 1500' elevation, my office is in Sacramento area, about 300' elevation. Traffic allowing, I tend to drive at between 70 - 75 MPH, up and downhill. I don't tow anything, and haven't carried anything in the bed of the truck yet.

According to the truck computer, I get about 21 MPG when going to work (downhill), and about 13 MPG when driving home (uphill). I put 0% confidence into those numbers, which is why I use the Fuelly app on my phone to track my actual mileage.

Just drove back and forth from NH to NY and averaged just over 19, mostly highway high speed driving.

I drove from San Jose to Reno, and by the time I got to Trukey, I averaged 22 mpg. Much of that travel was up hill. I drove 65-70 the whole way.

I average 20mpg at 70mph on flat ground.

    18mpg at 75mpg.

I have 21,800 miles since new on a '16 TRD Sport MT. Overall 20.5, driven mostly in the Winter, but all at altitude. less than 1,000 Interstate miles ( I'm 150 miles from one). Less air takes less gas20180204_204632.jpg

And less air conditioning. I believe the compressor costs 1MPG.
