Progress. Had a few runs so I sanded it back down and re-primed. Will let it dry and then throw on another coat. This is definitely going to be a "throw away," at least until I order a cheap after market one to redo it. It had been a good learning process though.

Oh, and with a mask, you don't get all that light headed. Who woulda thunk?!?!

YES, those fiber masks are worthless. A proper mask will look something like this (pretty much):

Haha yeh I had some double filer breaking bad meth cooking style masks laying around

But the weakest ones die off first. So it makes you smarter!

 

We used to use those making free base

 

Second and third coats done. Went on much more even except for some rolling around the edges. Put on clear coat and letting it dry. Then the mesh goes in! Getting closer…

Blacked out chrome, 2 stage paint protection and coating, satin black accents....and more to come tomorrow....

Alright, it's done. It's shitty, but it's done. I'm definitely going to have to buy a new grille and re-do it at some point.

I did fuck up by being impatient again and tried to attach the mesh before the clear coat was dry, so I had to re-paint some of that area.

I definitely know what not to do next time.
