I knew that, was just playin. Just an autozone special cause I needed it now.

I just kinda torqued it to the “goodntight” spec and than backed it off a bit. Probably my problem.

I also don’t know if I put it back together right, pretty positive I did, but ya never know.

I did the quarter window vent repair and replaced my License plate lights with LEDs.

I'm generally a fan of the german torque spec 'guten tight', or counting the ugga-duggas on the impact, however, I would use a torque wrench on that bearing.

FYI You don't have to take the lens off of the license plate lights. The bulbs are accessble from the rear of the bumper, just reach around and quarter turn the fitting.

I kinda just figured it didn’t matter.... I thought all that but did was hold the drive shaft together. I wonder if the bearings toast..

NICE!! Make sure to get inside the door panels. It's a bit of a bitch but makes a huge difference. What brand of sound deadening are you using?

Doors are on the list. I wasn't looking forward to cutting the pieces and getting them inside, but after climbing in and out of my truck 100 times today and sitting on a little stool, I think the doors will be a welcome change.

The deadening is some cheap Noico stuff off Amazon. Has excellent reviews, so figured it would be good enough for my purposes and save me a few bucks.

No kidding right! I still have driver side door and headliner left to do. Probably will finish it tomorrow.

Ooooh, last month when I posted the pics of my wife and I at CVT in Bend, you said “Nice, making a trip over there sometime next month” (paraphrasing) So I thought you were going to Bend to pick up a CVT.

BUT I know that you already have one, so...

I just really wasn’t thinking. Haha

Swapping my brand new OEM carrier bearing from the driveshaft I presumed to be the correct one to my old PreRunner driveshaft in preparation to have it shortened.

Only had 92k on the original one and it's already sagging to an extent.

    IMG_6307.jpg

Got a good deal on a brand new OEM one from a member on here for $50. Last time I checked Toyota wanted like $150-200 for it? That's a bit excessive.

Were there 2 thin washers involved in yours at all?

No... I was actually thinking about what you said while I was doing it. Only one thick washer on the top of the flange.

This is the original carrier bearing from the factory so I'm pretty sure it's stock.

I wonder if the 2 I messed with are from the original bearing (facepalm) the thing I was reading said to get the washers back in the correct order so that’s what I figured it was talking about...

I lied. I double checked and there's was a thin washer stuck to the grease. I only found one though, can't find the other.

Yeah it was inside the old bearing caked in grease which is why I didn't see it. I only found one though.

I think you're supposed to, my new carrier bearing didn't come with it. Did you read through the 'how to' thread sticked at the top of the 1st gen forum on how to do the swap?

Just checked the FSM. According to the propeller shaft diagram there's only two washers. The thick one and one thin one. The thin one goes before the flange and the thick one goes after the flange.
