Bed bolt issue!

    I’m installing d rings on my bed and I’m having an issue with the bed bolt. I can’t seem to remove the washer off the bolt. Is there a way to get them out or will I need to get a new bolt?

    Are they getting hung up at the threads when you try to slide them off ? If so try holding the washer in a vice or with channel locks firmly not enough to distort the wash and turn it out as if the washer was threaded on. Just watch the threads on the bolt and make sure it's not fucking the threads as it's coming off.

    The washer is unable to catch the thread no matter what I do. It sits loosely on top of it

    So your options are. Either cut the washer off or replace the entire bolt. The washer is probably pressed on to the bolt.

    Try placing a large socket over the washer and pound it off with a mallet?

    You will need to dremel them a bit to get the washer off. Easy peasy.
    There is a collar that holds it on, iirc.

    I used this set up to remove material quickly for the bed bolts on the ‘08 and ‘12. Use a strong vice grip to get a good grip on the washer. Shape to the edge of the cap.

    Don't Dremel anything or cut anything. Put a socket over the head of the bolt onto the washer and smack it with a hammer. All you have to do is get the washer over a rolled lip and it pops of.
