SERVCO HAWAII SUCKS - ENTUNE

Maybe it’s just the new Tacoma.. @Boomkanani didn’t your T4R Pro come with entune?

 

Entune doesn’t work in Hawaii at all no matter what.

 

My TRD 4X4 OR with the tech package has a "brick" of a useless shell installed in it! The "technology" is whats not active or available is 1 part of the sinister problem here. My TRD X4 OR is also listed as an SR5 as told by Toyota customer service and I am appalled by such SHADY practice.

 

There was a discussion here a while back about how most TRD OR / Sport vehicles show as SR5 in Toyota’s database. You may not have been lied to about that.

 

TRD is a package and SR5 is the platform they are added too. It’s fine there are many indications that you have a off road or a sport when it comes to resale.

You can buy from the mainland and boat it over for a grand. Probably still do better. Right before I retired I was on LA and bought a new taco and had military ship it home to Honolulu. Had lots of equity in it even before it had any miles on it. Toyota dealers willing to work with you in Cali

 

Were blessed to buy always stateside and fly it in like the last 3 cars at employee favorable rate. But seeing how the prices on Toyota's were comparable, my wife said buy it here instead. So I'm just enjoy the truck, but I'm looking to get a replacement deck from stateside and gain access to the features like mainland trucks who move here are able to enjoy

 

Like others have stated still sucks we can’t get the same as say Cali in systems

 

Will my navigation system on my 2018 TRD OR work when I move to the states in the future?

 

Navigation works its just the smart APPS we don't have like:
Pandora, Slacker, XM, iHeart. Those will never appear

Also, you will need to have Servco send your service records once you move Stateside after finding a Toyota dealer. Otherwise, they will have no records of service being performed accordingly.

Hope this helps. Only know it from helping my sister who moved to Seattle last month. Her 4Runner she purchased in October 2017 is still covered under warranty and she needed to have Servco send them to Toyota of Puyallup as they had no records of anything using the VIN number as she just made 5K and needed to take it in.

I just got spoiled having the apps in my other car and was irked about it, but over it now as I plan to upgrade the deck with the Alpine's new iLX-F309 floating head unit.

 

I can't help but think that the apps and stuff are in there but have been blocked, im sure someone could figure out how to "jailbreak" it, although it may take techstream or something like that to do it with. I'm just speculating here but if there is a will there is a way

 

Yes, Sir, I agree. I spoke with one of the tech managers at Toyota of Puyallup while helping my sister and he tried to undo how it came from the factory for her head unit and I also gave him my VIN to see if there was anything he could send me like the reset USB thumb drive but it wouldn't even work and kept disabling itself after the reset. He suggested a new deck which I told him I pass. My sister was over it as she only uses the USB and Navigation system lol

It just sucks that Servco and Toyota would do this. I got my eyes on the Alpine and will get that set and be cherry

 

That sucks, but I had a Sony head unit in my last vehicle with android auto/ car play and it was great, loved the android auto, still have the head unit but haven't put it in because I don't want to add a microphone and it'll take hacking to make factory Mic work(not plug and play) so I haven't messed with it.

 

Servco is a separate division of Toyota, it's like a nation unto themselves. Did you ever wonder why you can't get Toyota motor credit financing on the national deals. That's because Servco is not part of them. Worst of all, Toyota protects Servco, when I was going to visit friends in Arizona, i contacted a dealer there and they gave me a great deal on an ordered truck, $250 over invoice, plus the $429 doc fee, a great deal compared to here. I told the internet Salesperson, let's do it, she told me she had to check on one thing. She called me back and told me they are not allowed to sell new Tacoma's to Hawaii residents, all in the name of protecting Servco profits.
