Anyone else find it a bit silly?

So, it seems like it’s dark all the time during winter. We’re driving down the road Friday evening, and the wife says...”44 grand, and they can’t put a light in the glovebox? Really?”

I just had to laugh because:
A: she’s right
B: this is the only complaint I’ve had to endure, so I’m not only amused, I’m feeling lucky LOL

I think the 1991 chevette we were driving when we got married even had one.

I don’t get it

 

I hate the glove box. Open the door and half the stuff slides out on to the floor.

 

Put one in.
You can even pick the color.

 

Map light illuminates it just fine.

 

Its really not a big deal to me. In fact I just realized right now it doesnt have one and i owned over a year

Toyota is renaming the glovebox on the off-road models to Front Locker in order to help with this perception problem.

 

I never would’ve known, if not for my wife. It’s like her little corner of MY truck, I guess. I use the center console, mostly

 

Leave it to a woman to figure that one out.

 

Believe it or not 1st gens even had a glove box light. Toyota likes to downgrade some features year to year for whatever reason.

But either way it’s not hard to add your own LED strip or whatever and call it a day.

 

For what the Tacoma costs, the most embarrassing thing quality wise is the stereo sound. You can improve the sound quality IMMENSELY with a less than $300 simply by replacing the speakers (stock HU and no amp needed)...and that is consumer retail cost...I'm sure Toyota could have sourced those components for less than $100 total.

 

Funny, I was just thinking how much I like the light that illuminates the little cubby in front of the shifter/ cupholders. On when you turn on the headlights.

The little things.....lol

 

Yeah but they’d be charging the end consumer $1000 for it as a premo package and then that would give you a new complaint.

 

Dont keep your registration in there in case you ever get pulled over at night, cops won’t like you reaching into places they can’t see.

 

Could just have all that crap ready before the police officer gets to your door.

 

Glove box is so tiny. I don’t think I’ve put anything in there besides dealer paperwork.

 

Oh, that’ll make them happy- I just keep my hands on the wheel. Had 1 glock too many pointed at my side near the door when talking to a cop at night. If your glove box light (when I had one) doesn't work- ask for permission to reach inside first.

 

In LA you don't make any movements toward anything until the cop asks you to or it turns into a felony stop procedure. And you don't want that. If you move they may just shoot you.
