Moab rentals

Hey all,

I am headed to Moab with the family next month. I am leaving the Taco at home as we are flying out there...so sad. EVen so, the family wants to do at leasts some easy to moderate wheeling. Can anyone recommend a Jeep rental company worth its salt out there? Preferably one that has a safety net in place in case of break downs.

CAnt wait to wheel somewhere without trees lol Here in NH its trees as far as the eye can see

 

Not a lot of trees (except for little pinyons and junipers around here unless you go up in the mountains). You and the fam will love it.

Do Onion Creek or Chicken Corners if you want something chill with fantastic views. Hell's revenge, Top of the World, etc if you want a bigger challenge.

We weren’t going to do this run, but I ended up having to help a friend in a broken Taco off the trail about 10 minutes into the beginning of the “trifecta” on the last day of the trip. The Wife and I did this scenic run instead.

If you do Arches, get off the pavement and take the trail out. It’s very moderate, but much more fun than the paved road.

Island In The Sky was amazing for sunset.

My two favorite trails were Hell’s Revenge and Moab Rim. Hell’ Revenge mostly because, after saying I’d never do it, Mickey’s Hot Tub. And of course, Escalator & Hell’s Gate.

I’ll be making the drive out there again for sure. If not this year, 2019.

Did you end up selling the Taco? Is this rumor true?

 

Nah, I like it too much. No way I’m driving an XJ out there, wheeling for a full week, and driving back home. What else would I do that with, right?

I’m actually building a smaller, lighter, trailer that I may take on the next trip right now. That big HMMWV trailer was way too much to drag all the way out there.

 

The whole place was like that photo though. It was such an awesome trip.

Nice...that thing is a beast. How did it do on the Yota run? I led the moderate run, but I have run most of those hard trails. "Angry Trout Guy' is particularly nasty for long wheel bases.

 

That Yota run was a good time. It was more technical than I expected TBH.

Thought I was getting jaded from running those blacks at Rausch. I didn’t really have any trouble up in NH, but there were some challenging spots. Had a blast for sure. I don’t remember his name, but the Jeep leader Guy was great.

I’d definitely love to get up there and wheel with you guys again. Shoot me a PM after your Moab trip if you’d like to hit some trails

As soon as mud season is over you'll have to come up for a session. We'll get a small group together and go at it.

Your from NJ right? I use to run the roads in the Pine Barrens all the time when I lived in Philly

 

I’m from NH. I just live in NJ... My folks are still up there though, so I’m up for a trip whenever. Let me know.

I haven’t been to the Pines yet. I’ve done most of my wheeling at RC. There’s another place down here too, Anthrocite Off-road Adventure Area (AOAA) . I want to explore that some this season.
