So I’ve recently got a 17 Tacoma off-road. Decided to get a 2.5-3 inch lift on it. Now I’m having a hard time deciding what tires. I’m planning on 285/75/r16 but I’m wondering if those are the highest I can go with my lift. I would want some mud terrains but my truck is my daily drive too so I’m also thinking about all terrains. Guess what I’m asking is what would you guys recommend.

If you want 285, be prepared to do cutting to make them clear. If you want minimal fuss, check out 255/85r16. The cooper st maxx are a great mid ground between AT and MT and have excellent on road manners.

Thank you for the response and actually giving me information. Really do appreciate it. I don’t really know much about this.

285/75r15 will probably need a cab mount chop, depending on your wheel offset. 255/85r16 will fit on stock wheels without lift. Start reading the numerous posts to see what works for different builds.

I’m running 255/80r17 on my truck (the 17” wheel equivalent) and here’s a pic. Not too skinny IMO.

Thanks! I love the tires and highly recommend them. Have a few friends running them too and they all love them as well.

If you put 285/75/16 you’ll most likely need to do a CMC and trimming with your plastic. If you run something larger more lift will be needed and your power/mpg will suffer.

If you don’t want to do chopping and trimming you can go with 265/75/16. People love the BF Goodrich A/T. There’s also some m/T out there. Hope that helps.

Also, this question is asked daily. That’s why people are being “dicks”

If you're interested in saving money, post 147 on the skinny tire thread is a big price comparison that I did recently.

Also, if you didn’t upgrade your UCA’s you might want to if you’re going to run larger tires. And if you don’t care about width, check out 255/80/16 or 255/85/16
