Man, that sucks. Glad you're okay. Sometimes it seems like folks really don't understand the damage they can cause if they don't taking driving seriously. Really no excuse at all for texting while driving.

As backwards as California is, I'm surprised they didn't cite OP for being in the way of the sleeping drivers path of travel.

    Glad you're ok, OP!

$12,000 (his insurance) and a month and a half later I finally got the Taco back!

The best part is that I finally got rid of the obnoxious chrome bumper caps via the body shop!

Bonus necessary grille update pic. The SR5 grille is my favorite, even over the pro grille.

I'd go after his insurance for the diminished value of your truck as well.

I'm not sure how the process works everywhere, but in general you take the car to an expert who reviews the damage and repairs and gives you a letter stating what the diminished value of the vehicle is. Then you take that to the other guys insurance company and tell them to pay up. They will probably tell you to FO. Take them to small claims (up to $10k in Cali I believe). They will settle or you go to court and have an expert report as evidence.

Edit - If that accident is in Carfax (or will be), it's resale is going down thousands of dollars. You should be compensated since you were not at fault.

I get it, but some aircrew have no choice. Had more of my friends killed in C-130 incidents than by any other method.

Yeah. Least in the Coast Guard, we can choose what air frame to be on, for the most part. Ive seen those Ospreys land at out airfield in Miami. Cool birds for sure. Its just that transition from forward flight to a hover.. Flew in 144s in Miami, no ancient c130s in Alaska. Damn things are 30+ Years old.
