    That is great. I put a toms woods single driveahaft in 9 months ago. Smooth as well. I ran it up to 103 and still good. :thumbsup:

    The two piece with the double cardan joint is THE way to go. That's why the 1st gens had the same thing I suspect! :D

    Sitting here thinking that my slight take off vibe doesn't drive me batty sometimes is getting harder to do...I have the 3 inch lift with the 7 leaf Dakar and have my carrier bearing dropped about an inch with spacers. Thanks for the final solution!!

    You're welcome! And just so you know, your setup is almost exactly what mine is too. Mine is an Icon 3" lift with Dakars out back. I didn't drop the carrier bearing as it seemed to not really help much. I may revisit that later (since I have the kit) to see if it improves things further.

    I started out with the drop kit I oredered with the Dakars, what is that about 3/8"? Well it wasn't helping at all and when I went with a one inch drop it made a lot better. But lol I still have it...

    Installed my 1 piece Tom Woods driveshaft.....I'm happy to say 30 MPH and 60 MPH vibes are all gone.

    Think I'll sell my 2 piece driveshaft and recoup some of the cost of the 1 piece.

    I assume you both had a take-off shudder previously? I've been looking really hard at a single-piece with double-cardan, but I'm liking the idea of not having to cut out the cross member. My biggest concern is getting rid of the 0-10 mph take-off shudder.

    Over the past year, I've eliminated my other vibes (ECGS bushing, both front wheel bearing assemblies) and have rebuilt my driveshaft with new CB and U-Joints. This dang take-off shudder just won't go away with mixing and matching various CB drops and axle shim combinations...

    My shudder was more 12-17 mph vibration, which is right on the edge for a take off vibration for me

    Thanks! I called the only driveline shop in town who also specialize in off-road vehicles (never had a need to use them before). They said they've done 3" lifts on a lot of Tacos and never had a vibe that needed more than adjustments. Guess I'll give them a shot first and if they can't adjust it out, work with them on fabbing a solution. I'll post back on the outcome.

    Im getting sick and tired of my take off vibes.... Im literally at the point of returning back to stock ride height with stock leaf pack and the stock shims.

    I have even gone as far as a full on budbuilt weld on traction bar to help reduce / eliminate axle wrap in conjunction with the IEDLS ford ranger poly CB and vibes are still there.

    I am really liking the idea of keeping the OEM 2 piece driveshaft, but adding a double cardian in the center (flipping the rear section around so the slip yoke is at the pinion). Seems like this could be a nice setup in conjunction with my traction bar as the pinion angle wouldnt change much during suspension articulation due to the traction bar, and its really only the center joint that would change and the double cardian is meant for that.

    Essentially this would be the same setup that the 1st gen taco had.


    Just spitballing here....

    Worth the money spent converting to the DC joint two piece driveshaft. Especially with keeping the stock spline front part of the shaft.
