Anyone need a project

 

If it's only the cab, do you need a title? What part of the truck is actually the truck?

The cab actually has the vin placard on it. If you swap cabs, you either have to remove the old vin placard and install it in the new cab (which I don't think is as simple legally as drilling out the old rivits and reriviting the placard in the new cab), or you use the title for the new cab and vin placard for the whole vehicle. If your vin placard on the cab and the vin on your registration don't match and you get pulled over, things can get very complicated very fast.

 

Yea but who checks the vin to the registration?

Yeah my buddy had those grand prix on his 86 power wagon.

 

USF Campus cops. It happened to me once with a truck I just bought. Turned out the guy had swapped out the cabs but not the vin placard.

 

Yikes!

 

USF Fowler campus is actually in a bad part of town, so the cops have to be super vigilant. The hotel on the North side of the campus has a ton of vehicle break ins and thefts.

 

This was over 25 years ago though.
