DBL Cab Long Bed w/ AAL??

I just purchased a Toyotec AAL for my Dbl Cab long bed. I'm worried that there will be too much foward rake. Does anyone have any pictures w/ just the rear AAL on there Tacoma DBL Cabs? I'm wondering if I'm going to need to get the front spacers to even it out. Thanks

Are you happy with it? Hows the ride?

 

I don't think that the rake looks too bad on that one. If you put the spacers on the front you might sit nose high when you tow your boat. I'd follow the advice on the quoted thread and do the AAL first and see how you stand.

 

If you have extra weight like a camper shell or toneau cover it'll help keep it closer to level.

I'm planning on adding that AAL and then seeing how things go, but I have seen one truck that had the AAL and didn't like how much forward rake there was. I think regardless if I add the front spacer, unless I get air bags, the front will be high when I tow the boat!

 

Are you guys mostly referring to the aftermarket AAL's or the rear spring TSB? It seems from the pics that aftermarket AAL's provide much more lift than the rear spring Toyota TSB 4 leaf update.

 

Depends on the AAL. They make them to offer different amounts of lift.

Yeah, I guess the post just got me thinking of how one AAL can be good for a longbed, but may be too much for a shortbed. It also hit me that the rear spring TSB uses the same 4 pack leaf for short and longbed doublecab trucks, and must be causing various height results depending on the bodystyle...

 

I would have to guess the Dbl cab long bed weighs more than a DBL cab short bed, maybe the extra weight will keep me from having to add the front spacers. I guess as soon as I put it on I will know.

 

I'd do it simply because of you hauling that huge-ass boat. Why spacers and not new shocks?

 

Never thought of shocks. Would they level out the front?

 

Bilstein 5100 series preload adjustable shocks will lift the front 0.85, 1.75", or 2.5", your choice.

 

I dont want any problems in the future which is the better way, spacers or 5100's?

 

Everything that I read said that the billy's were the way to go. I set mine at 1.75 and it levelled the truck perfect for me with the TSB. The ride is just a tad stiffer but barely noticable. It's more expensive than spacers but if you were planning on having them installed, I'd go with the 5100's as not to sacrifice the comfort of the ride and you would only end up spending 80-100 bucks more.

 

I might end up doing that, I want to see how much rear lift I actually going to get with the AAL. Once it settles I'll decide. I cannot wait till I get the AAL installed!!!
