Mine is zip-tied to the pole bases in the 2 corners. Was going to be a temp solution, but they’re still holding strong after 3 years.

Now that I think about it, I’m pretty sure I cut it in half too... it’s in 2 pieces.

Few questions for the pro :)

    1. Is it too bad to install RTT on top of the shell without using any roof rack system? I mean between roof and RTT just a pair of tracks. There is no question how to install, but why not. I thought about air flow on highway and rain water but don't see any bad things that can happen. The goal is very low profile for the mounting system.

    2. What material can be used as anticondensation mat? Any homedepot/etc goods for this? Or just buy the original material for that purpose?

    3. Is it legal to stay for the night on walmart/etc parking in RTT? Just in case of emergency situation on the trip.

p.s. just delivered Smittybilt XL RTT

I'm in Utah, thank you guys! What do you think about mounting the tent on the cab vs the shell on a prinsu or rhino rack?

    1. Usually the shell has an upward curve in the middle from left to right. Throw a 2x4 on top and see if it can rest on your rails and not interfere with anything. Barring that, I have a prinsu rack which is pretty low profile and it’s a bitch as is to tighten everything down. Couldn’t imagine trying to do it with even less room.

    2. I dunno.

    3. I believe you used to be able at all of them, but read somewhere that because people were abusing it at some stores (setting up for more than a day) it’s on a store by store basis.

often, local ordinances preclude Walmart from allowing camping in their lots. Where it is allowed, Walmart generally allows it. Camping World allows boondocking as well.

    Death Valley 2018: Day 4
You Don't See This Every Day

... around 1:00am, the wind got significantly colder, and we started
to feel moisture in the air. We didn't realize it at the time as
we zipped up the remaining windows, but the moisture we were feeling was snow...

So yeah - we went to Death Valley to escape the cold, and we got snowed on.

You don't see that every day.

Yeah both have something different to appreciate. Only reason I didn’t order the m45 was the length

it should. If it doesnt, I have updated my spare holder to Billy's adjustable height version. So I could just drop it down a notch

Anyone have any pictures of Tepui Kukenam XL on a third-gen long bed? I didn’t find any photos doing a quick search and don’t really have the time to go through all 763(!) pages of this thread. Much appreciated!

    Eventful Trip Home

...Now, an astute reader may remember that on our way to Beatty from
the northeast, we nearly ran out of gas. Not to be outdone
coming from the southwest, the fuel light in the truck came on just as we pulled
out of Stovepipe wells - some 32 miles from Beatty...
