Kinda simple question here but picked up my 18 DCSB OR with 16s. Why do peeps move up to 17s? I would think for an OR type vehicle more tire is better than more rim? Just curious because I really love the look of the TRD black rims but they are 17s. Thanks all

The 17" TRD Pro wheels are from the 4Runner, but will fit the Tacoma.

They also come in 16" if you prefer the 16" wheel size. They are the wheels for the Tacoma TRD Pro: 16" TRD Pro Alloy Wheel - Part # PT758-35170-02

Substantially larger tire selection in the 17” segment.

I personally find 17” tires/wheels more aesthetically desirable. 16” tires that are most any size larger than stock, except for skinny’s, start to look like marshmellows to me.

Purely my opinion though, zero facts.

I have the same truck and came here to ask the same question. That wheel looks so great on the trucks. Maybe when my 16" Wildpeaks wear out I'll switch to 17".

Understood.. Down the road who knows but driving the sport I wasn't happy with the 17s. I know that is a combo of sport suspension and larger rim and I haven't tried an OR with 17s

i use 17's because I'm primarily on road, not off road, i like to maintain most of that OR capability, and i am the hugest fan of a particular tire that is hard to match for my personal preferences: Cooper STMaxx in 265/65-17, E rated. the stock diameter and E rating make them unique. they drive very different from 265/70.
