A 1996-1997 extra-cab LS 4x4 with minor "cancer" in the lower right rear cab corner, but otherwise seems to be in decent condition...

Another one of my early post-crash (July 2012 hard drive crash) photos, taken in the student parking lot at college with my Fujifilm Finepix waterproof camera and NOT my Nikon SLR (hence the rather grainy/gravelly photo quality)...

Stock 1994-1997 sportside S-10s are relatively uncommon. To date, this green truck has been the only stock 1995-1995 4x4 with a sportside bed that I've photographed. I distinctly remember seeing the driver get out of the truck and observing that it had crank windows when they opened the door. This truck does have automatic and A/C, but very few other options, and if I remember correct it did not have cruise control or a tilt wheel...

I forget what year this LS regular cab 4x4 was (I think 1996 or 1997), but what I do remember is that when the guy who owned it bought it, it was rusted to shit (originally from New York). I believe it was actually built from two different trucks, with a wrecked truck donating a rust-free frame, and I also believe that it may not be a factory sportside.

About 300K miles on it too...

It started life as a blue passenger van with CL trim. The owner did all the work himself!

I still see countless numbers of 1991-1994 S-10 Blazers on the road. Some have seen better days, but most are actually in decent condition. The 1986-1990 models are a little less common, but I still see plenty of those too!

1983-1985 S-10 Blazers are quite uncommon, and I believe I've photographed less than ten since 2013. Of those, most were heavily customized (turning these into all-out pro street racers seems to be a popular thing to do). A few were mildly customized and not in very good shape. To date, I've only photographed three bone-stock pre-1986 S-10 Blazers (one 2WD and two 4x4s), two of which were in decent shape.

I see GMC Typhoons all the time at shows, and they even pop up from time to time outside of shows...

However, the First Gen (1983-1994) GMC S-series Jimmy is very hard to find compared to the virtually identical S-10 Blazer and the performance-oriented Typhoon. I had some photos of decent ones, but I accidentally deleted my entire stockpile of GMC SUVs in spring 2014...

The photos below show one of only two 1991-1994 GMC Jimmy 2-doors I've ever seen in person!

Chevrolet and GMC trucks are virtually identical, but Chevy trucks are far more common. GMC has its origins as GM's commercial truck division, General Motors Truck. However, Chevrolet dealers had a bit of unfair advantage over Buick, Oldsmobile, and Cadillac dealers since they could sell both cars and trucks. GMC was created so non-Chevy GM dealers could sell light trucks as well...

Some people argue that GMC trucks are better than Chevy. I think they are virtually identical. Base model GMC trucks are slightly more expensive than their Chevrolet counterparts, and some say more luxurious, but remove the badges and they are the same truck.

Needless to say, Chevrolet has always sold more trucks (and SUVs, and vans) than GMC. As such, there are always going to be more Chevrolet trucks on the road than comparable GMC models. General Motors trucks all the way into the mid-2000s have annoying habit of rusting, so with more Chevy trucks than GMC trucks on the road, there will be more Chevy trucks left when rust starts killing the older trucks off...

    :(Sad but true:(

This is a 1985 club coupe 2WD model with the High Sierra trim. It has the reliable but slovenly 2.8L V6, an automatic transmission, A/C, and the original AM/FM radio. The manager of this garage lets me wander around taking pictures, and I happened to see this sitting out front one day, so I stopped...

I took these photos at the Carlisle Truck Nationals in 2012 and 2014, respectively...

This is a 1984 GMC S-15 long bed 2WD with the Sierra Classic trim. The owner kept the factory exterior colors when restoring this truck, but that's where this truck's stock appearance ends...

You can tell by looking at the rear wheels that this is no ordinary truck! Under the hood of this truck, a custom-built 355cid V8 resides, mated to a Turbo 350 automatic transmission!

This truck has factory A/C that works (according to the FOR SALE sign it had on it at the 2014 show). It also has factory tilt wheel, intermittent wipers, power windows, and power locks!

Here's something you don't see everyday...

A stock S-15 that's actually in decent condition!

This is a 2WD club coupe with the High Sierra trim. It has the 2.8L V6 and automatic transmission, and aside from air-conditioning (which I believe worked; It was in the nineties that day and I'm pretty sure I saw the truck driving around the fairgrounds with the windows up), it was pretty sparsely optioned...

Aside from a modern stereo system with a CD receiver and presumably new speakers, this truck was totally stock!

Beige, brown, tan, and other similar colors were popular in the 1980s!

I spotted this decent (but far from flawless) regular cab long bed 2WD with the High Sierra trim in the spectator parking area at the Vargo Dragway Reunion...

This regular cab long bed 2WD with Sierra Classic trim is a bit beat up, but it has the venerable 4.3L V6 under the hood! With a little bit of work, you'd have yourself one hell of a truck!
