What have you done to your Tacoma today? 1st Gen Edition

Fiberglass sides are pretty cheap and you could slap them on anything, half the people who run them just make their own mounts

 

Pretty sure there just spot welded, there’s been a few pop up for sale now and again in Utah.

 

Yeah I had a feeling they were spot welded. 2nd gens have them bolted on I'm guessing since I see the stock ones up for sale all the time.

 

I tell you what, when I get my fiber glass bedsides on, you can take my bedsides. I'll try not to beat em up too much lol

I know exactly what you mean, make a main frame out of like some 2x2 square tubing, then reinforce as necessary. And more trailer building procedures lol

 

Unfortunately he's got a short bed so it's a no go for me. I'll be getting glass eventually, easier to get my hands on and will cover the tires.

 

Yea, I was talking about the tailgate part, but either way.

 

How do you like the lights in the box like that? They allow you to see when backing up pretty good? 20% tint sucks at night... in the snow... with a canopy... drunk... just kidding about the last one.

 

Tailgate wouldn't be too hard, pinning it so it would swivel would be easy. Then when you go to make the latch just put the male side of the latch into the female on the tailgate, close the tailgate and mark it and drill, tap threads or riv-nut right?

 

I would, you can get much better numbers (caster especially) if you're lifted

 

Yea, basically all the words I needed. If I had access to auto cad, some money and knowledge my life and truck wouldn’t be such a mess...
