    Do you have some sort of grounding mat or other protection when working on those?

    Yeah OUCH how long a chain did you get ? :} LOL we used to grab peoples arms as they stood around and then someone grabbed the coil wire lol . Best we got was 4 :} Oh and yeah the shop teacher taught us that lol imagine if it was done today ??:{ Come to think of it that may be where most of us get our masochistic tendencies toward FNG's lol . I can not tell you how many times I would be teaching a youngin metal work on the plane , drill a bunch of rivets out bit would be smoking take it out and hand it to them.... LOL Yes I chuckled and they learned so ..:}

    I had a metal pick in my top left breast pocket and the foreman told me to drop the trailer to get over the back of the 24VDC batteries on an Volvo F16 Globetrotter to check the main fusable links by the chassis. I was skinny back then and decided, shit I can fit in there and slid in with a meter to test the links, got in and checked, yep one was bad, I backed out and as I backed out the pick with had poked through the bottom of my pocket and was also now sticking out the side of my pocket as well shorted across the batteries. Bang, I jumped involuntarily into the underneath of the trailer and came back down on the batteries, bang again, same result and after a couple more shunts I am finally out on the workshop floor grabbing at my chest. I had burn marks across my nipple and on my chest and all I remember is the foreman standing over me telling what a stupid f^%k I was and everyone in the shop was laughing. The foreman knew I wasn't going to drop the trailer so he got all the guys on that side of the shop to watch. After I came to my senses, I had to go drop the bloody trailer anyway to change the link out....
    End result, burnt tittie, split chin, split lip and and couple of knots on the back of my head, and oooh the embarrassment....:bananadead:
    To this day I cover batteries when I am working around them, regardless of voltage...
