Check the camera with a light to see if it’s dry on both sides of the lens when it’s cold and doing that - as for the blowing cold exhaust smoke effects, oooh scary! Put up fake photo cutouts of scary zombies for a horror scene behind your truck and scare your date with it - they like that stuff.

Thick fog? Cemetery and moonlit night? Bro. Do you live in Transylvania by any chance? If you do, it cuts down our troubleshooting efforts. I mean I’ll tell you right now you got vampires.

Please don’t be frustrated. You’re the one describing Michael Jackson’s “thriller” video in your backup cam. For the record, that video was AWARD WINNING.

In my opinion, doesn’t look that bad. Just sayin. Might be normal.

That's not horrible (exactly what mine looks like), but I do get your frustration. My old FORD backup cam was much better. Doesn't surprise me, though, seeing how Toyota seemed to have (unnecessarily) cut corners on certain things.

I was just thinking tonight how bad mine is at night, it's worse than yours. Looks great during the day, but at night it's borderline unusable. I'll try turning down the brightness and/or using just the running lights. My wife's '14 Outback is much better.

I could be wrong, but doesn't the owners manual say not to rely totally on the backup camera or something to that effect??
My camera works great, but it's no substitute for good old looking around, I'm always nervous when backing up.

I find pressing on the brakes helps with the washout at night. You need to add some color for the camera to pick up and adjust the brightness.

God forbid you actually looked in your side mirrors and rearview mirrors. Jesus, do you want it to park for you, too?

@Freetime and @The hammer are you criticizing those who want their systems to function properly, trying to be humorous or are those your best suggestions to solve the problems presented?

I would sell the truck and buy a Colorado if I had to look in the damned mirrors

Do you have LED lights installed in the license plate light housing and LED for the reverse lights? My plate lights are factory soft white/ yellowish and I don't have glare coming from them.. Btw... Don't be a dick.

    This.

If the license plate lights are washing out the camera....don't turn them on.

You know who else doesn't look in mirrors? Women.

Forget the Colorado, I think you'd be happier in a Ridgeline.
