The rear windows on that truck make it look like it's really far away. Then the cap makes it look like it's straight. The forced perspective is killing me

    GET RID OF IT!!!
About 5 years ago we bought a brand new Ford Focus for my wife in Gilbert AZ. On the way home from the dealer the car started to buck down and CHECK ENGINE light came on. From that point on for 3 years was a nightmare. Gas tank was replaced, fuel lines replaced twice, injectors replaced, still no good fix. Later the driver door latch broke while she was driving on the hwy.
Transmission would shake and hesitate at each and every turn. Later the engine would shake for a while, calm down and shake again...It was the BIGGEST LEMON and Ford didn't give a crap. Now there is a class action law suit for the same problems we had.

some dude ranting again about how he paid 40k and got a check engine light which was fixed for free, and a 128k bumper to bumper warranty and free loaner for his problems, life can be so cruel

Driving around in a Corolla while your brand truck is in the shop is not something to really brag about. However i agree with you on the perk of getting the 125K Extended Warranty for the hassle and that should make him feel pretty good about the truck long term.

    Personally didn't see the "rant".

Thought OP was rightfully concerned, and many members offered good feedback.

I am always interested in anybody sharing their experiences, since I might have a similar situation someday.

    Fwiw.

I agree. I am always curious how a company responds to issues. Any product can have flaws and problems. Which is something everyone should realize. But how does a company stand behind their product, service, and warranty?

    OP,

We have lemoned 3 vehicles. It’s not that difficult. You don’t need to hire a lawyer or pay out one thin dime.

You need to keep all RO’s (repair order’s) out of the glove box and in a secure location. This is your only evidence that the truck was in the shop. If your a guy that likes to kept this in the glove box make copies and keep the originals in a safe place.

Make a time line in excel. Date in, miles in, RO#, miles out, date out, brief description of the said problem, # of days down. Keep this up to date religiously. Keep it out of the hands of any shop. Try to use the same shop when making repairs. That way you don’t get into the blame game and who did what. Of course emergencies will arise that prevents you from using the same shop.

Don’t discuss the case with anyone, especially on here. Dealers troll this site too. You never know who’s watching. Remember somewhere there is an army of lawyers.

Every state has a different process to lemoning a vehicle. That can be found in the warranty guide that you got when you bought the truck. Follow the instructions exactly as described in the guide. A lemon lawyer will give you a free consultation too.

Dealers and manufacturers are in business to make money, not give it back unless ordered to do so through arbitration. These people are in business and are not your friends. You may loose a few friends along the way too. It’s the nature of the beast. Some will be personal friends that you socialize on a regular basis, others are posters here, or the folks at your selling or servicing dealership. No one likes to be told they bought a POS. It’s the old mysery loves company syndrome. They want company to reassure themselves they too didn’t buy a POS and they will tell you all kinds of crap just to suck you into the vortex. Headgames, etc come to mind. Yes, some will lie to you others will fabricate BS. It’s all part of society.

Now here’s where it may all unravel on you. The manufacturer gave you a concession. That was the extended warranty in exchange for not suing. Did you sign any papers agreeing to said exchange? Call them perks, concessions, freebies, etc, you may want to throughly read the verbiage. Yes, yikes!! Sometime that simple just cinched your manhood!

I’m not a lawyer, work for any one connected to the automotive field, just well versed on the process.

Two Toyota’s and one VW later. The Toyota’s were swaps. Same dealer too, and the VW was a buy back plus $$ to go away and STFU! The VW was a diesel and we all know what happened there! Before we hit the lemon button on the VW, they threw all kinds of concessions at us. Reimbursement of payments, extended warranty, free Sat Radio, loaner for life. They were very tempting and looked very appealing but we passed and went to arbitration.

Some vehicles are lemoned due to the manufacture exhausting all avenues of trying to fix the issue. Money gets in the way. There is a secret formula used to call it quits when the problem can’t be resolved. Some are a comedy of wreckless repairs that are absolutely mind boggling to say the least. And others are repairs that just didn’t please the consumer no matter how or what the dealer did. Mine were a combo of all the above. In my case it wasn’t so much the pleasing me it was incomprehensible nit wits doing the repairs. They would fix one repair and hose up another. When I say hose up, I mean hose up. It was like an up hill battle on ice. It was like being in a comedy first hand.

Stick to your guns, keep records, it is mind blowing. No shrink needed.
