I see everyone saying the Toyota TRD Pro suspension kit will lift the front of a second gen 1.75". And it will leave the rear height unchanged from stock. This essentially levels the truck.

I have a DC SR5 4x4. If I installed the suspension kit, is there a chance I'd end up with the front higher than the rear? I've read all about the recommended solutions to this scenerio-- new leaf pack or add a leaf, but I'm not interested in doing anything to the rear springs just yet.

All that said, I see posts here and there saying people only got 1.5" in front, some saying they got 2", but now the front is taller than rear etc.

If I knew for certain that I wouldn't end up with the front taller than the rear, I'd go ahead and do it. Is there any way to be certain before making the change?

Thanks. Suspension stuff is new to me.

I just installed a trd pro suspension on my 15 dcsb 4x4 and it sets completely level now. The pro kit I used was for the 2nd gen, which can be had for under $700 to your door.

How long have you had it installed may need a couple days to settle. More importantly how’s the ride been thinking of picking up the same setup when I get my coilovers rebuilt.

Had them on for almost a week.. The ride is really awesome (very "plush" on washboard roads and ruts), to me it's better than a OME setup i had on a previous truck (OME Sports shocks with 884 coils), plus this set was a lot cheaper than any other aftermarket setup that I could have put together.. For the record I got right at 2" of lift on the front and sits completely level..It's all I wanted(sitting level) and better ride quality and for the price I couldn't pass it up. Part # PTR13-35150

Any more impressions after a few more days on the road?

Any chance you'd be willing to measure center of hub straight up to fender? That will alleviate differences due to tire/wheel size for those of us contemplating the upgrade.

Any other mods to your back end? (Spacers, leaf springs)

From the center of the hub to fender is 22 3/8" passenger side and 22 1/8"driver's side..
Rear end is stock(no spacers/blocks, or aal), just the shocks that came with the kit is all.

To me the actual lift you would get is the ground clearance from ground to center of the skid plate vs center of hub to fender, am I wrong on that?

I think both measurements are valid. But there's often differences in driver vs passenger sides, so I think that's why we also use those numbers. The skid plate measurements is sort of an "average" between both sides, for lack of a better word. That's just my basic understanding. I'm far from an expert on lifts. This is all new to me.

When looking at yours in person from the side, does it appear to be very slightly higher in the front?

Btw thanks for all your time.

It does look like the front may be 1/4" high, but level on these trucks does appear to make the front just a shade higher

You might hear people talk about "taco lean". It's common for the drivers side to sit lower than passenger side on Tacomas. Not sure why exactly. So with lifts, some people put 1/4" spacers in on one side to level it out. Just one more reason we do the hub to fender measurement.

The Pro shock kit has one shock set differently than the other to account for the taco lean. They are driver/passenger side specific. You prob already knew this.

Yeah, thanks for clarifying the hub to fender measurement

It's been a few years since I've installed mine. I installed the suspension while the truck was still pretty new. I'm running the Baja version of this suspension which the only difference is a higher front spring rate of 650lb for the Baja versus 600lb (softer) for the Pro. I'm still sitting at 22" hub to fender in the front.

In the rear, I installed Icon 3 lead AAL's with the factory overload removed. Initially the rear measures ~ 23" hub to fender. So overall I had one inch of rake in the rear compared to the front. Over the years I have sagged and now the rear measures 22"... level with the front with an empty bed. I do not carry weight or run a cap on a regular basis. Any load in the bed or pulling a trailer causes the rear to squat. Cheap solution would be to throw my factory overload back in and regain about a half an inch and hopefully less squat under load. However, I've opted for a new set of leaf packs.

That said, you will get about 1.75" front lift.

Rear is up to you. Either AAL or new pack. I strongly recommend picking one or the other.

Right now dealerships are selling the whole TRD Pro Kit for around $615 shipped which is a killer deal.
