Well, thought I'd try to be smart and try something different. Had the TSB done a few months back and wanted to put a small lift on the front. I looked at 5100's, but read great things about the EMU ride quality. I went with the 884's without the spacers for my DC because I only wanted about 2" of front lift. 2" should have left me a small rake. I installed it myself a couple weeks ago and got 2 1/4" and 2 1/2", surprisingly. I thought it would settle in back to 2" to get rid of the nose high look. It has somewhat, but not enough for my liking. I really like the ride quality of the EMU now that I've put on a few thousand miles with it (much better than stock), so I will stick with it. Are there any options to raise the back end 1/2"-1"??? I know Toytec has the TSB AAL, but it seems like it would raise it too much. Like I said, I only want a slight rake or level look when finished. Thanks in advance.

First month of ownership... This month I'm removing front air dam, and also Rhino lining the bed.
I think there are some "Add a Leaf" options that would raise your back about that much. Those are a pretty to pop in.

Or instead, maybe think about putting an aftermarket front bumper, or even a bull bar up front.. should about line up if you did that.

EDIT: URL for an add-a-leaf at Wheeler's Offroad for under $80

A shim under the leaves would probably raise the back a 1/2".

I think that's similar to the Toytec AAL for the TSB leafpack, which I'm leary of. Don't want too much rake.

Any drawbacks using shims? Axle wrap maybe?

I think the AAL will be too much and you'll end up with a stink bug truck. I have shims and I have no axle wrap but technically, I suppose they could increase axle wrap due to the fact that you're moving the axle farther from the leaves albeit only a small amount. What they really do is point your pinion joint more directly at your carrier bearing joint in turn relieving stress on both. They will wear slower and have a lower risk of unwanted vibrations. They are about a 1/2" thick in back. Blocks will definitely increase the risk of axle wrap because they are much thicker and move the axle quite a ways from the leaves giving the already existing torque a levered mechanical advantage to twist the leaves.

You will be fine with the Wheeler's TSB AAL. I don't have a straight-on shot I can give you at the moment (I'm moving and my camera is packed away), but here's a glimpse with 885 springs, stock tires, and OME shocks. I'd say there is a very mild rake from just eyeballing it in the parking lot, I've never gone to measure.

If you don't have it already, a driveline spacer would be very good.

A 1" block is a simple and effective option, wont lead to too much axle wrap either.

Hey mike, we need to go 'wheel browns camp again, maybe this time you'll miss that tree stump. :p

1" block, shouldn't have any axle wrap since you got the tsb springs. I ran a 1" block with the non tsb springs and i only noticed very minor axle wrap. Most people wouldn't notice but i could just barely tell when i would take off hard in 1st and 2nd gear.

Seeing the third gen section forced me to get a Ford...
the ATO shackle flip kit adds 1/2", a 1" block, or get someone to custome make a set of 1/2" blocks. the shims are to change to angle of the DS to the rear diff and if they do add any lift, it's minor.

So should he do 1/2 block and shims? I guess with the 1.5" total lift (1" TSB and .5 Block) it would'nt hurt...?

You went up 2 1/2" in a DC with 884's ? Hmm , might change my thoughts on going with 885's as I only want to go up 2 1/2" .

From my understanding, the 884 won't lift any higher than 885 or 886. The difference is in how much resistance the coil has. Worse case, if you have a heavy front end and only use 884, you would nose dive when you hit the brakes. This would mean you need to step up to a heavier resistance.

^^ Gotcha , thanks . So if I was considering an ARB bumper , I should probably still go with the 885's ?

As I understood it, the 884's have the same spring rate as the 885's, but are 10 mm shorter. The 886's have a stiffer spring rate for heavy aftermarket front bumpers. I heard most everyone was getting 2.5" of lift with the 885's w/o the spacer (to achieve the full 3"). With that logic, the 884's shoulda hit around 2", but every truck is different.
