It won't be fun to pull more than 4000lbs with the Taco on any regular basis, and I wouldn't like towing it in any inclement weather. That sled trailer I just sold was less than 3000 loaded and I got 8mpg on average. With 5500lbs OMG will you be smashing the skinny pedal. You won't be passing anyone, including a gas pump. But I'm sure you know this.

When is your Rangeley trip? This snow is going to make it awesome everywhere. Finally a little moisture content to the snow. Pittsburg last weekend was fucking stellar.

 

I have an old Reese. It's a POS but it was free. If you want a really good system, check out Blue Ox or Pro Pride but they be 'spensive. Husky makes a good one and Equilizer seems to be pretty well liked. I saw one over the summer that I liked because the bars were installed high. I don't know what brand that one was though.

If you really look at campers in any given RV park, most of the ones being towed by half tons or smaller are legally overloaded. You're certainly not alone. Once I came to that realization, it's the reason I'm going bigger with my next truck, either heavy half ton or a 3/4. My truck does fine, I just don't like the idea of being overloaded legally. With my luck, I'll have an accident and some ass-hat attorney would have a field day with me.

To balance it out I typically only get 1 pair a year and get my normal sneakers at Marshalls.

Also isn't $100-$150 a pretty typical price if you were to get like Nike's or something? Want to talk expensive look up lifting shows...

 

I usually try to keep it at $100.00 or less. The new Adidas I bought I got for under $100 shipped, thanks to a coupon and free shipping from the site.

I don't even want to look at the lifting ones then because of what you said.

 

A while. I've worked out in them 5-6 days a week for the past year including running outside just about every day when it's nice out. My current pair is over a year old and fine for indoor stuff/ Oly lifting etc, but horrible for running.

 

But, if you wear them every day and they last a year, you're only paying 40 cents a day.

On the other hand, I spent $107 for my boots (plus $20 on a set of lifetime laces), and they went 4 years before they needed to be resoled, so they only cost 8.5 cents a day.

I wonder what that works out to in terms of $/mile.

I usually make mine last over a year. At about a year and a half mark, I look for new ones and put the old ones to a different use.

I wear mine until the leather wears out. If stitches burst I usually get them repaired. Soles wear out? Resole. I usually go through 5 or 6 sets of insoles and 2-3 sets of outsoles before I'll replace the actual boots themselves. When I worked in a parts store and I was on my feet all day I went through a set of outsoles every year and a set of insoles every 6 months; now they last forever!
