I means they lost your box and are looking for it and may need to replace it.

;) with all my moves and after my mom passed away years ago, any family big heirlooms are gone. I think I have a couple clothing items from my mom from when she lived outside the US but thats it. My grandma had some old books but I dont have any place to display them so they are gone also.

My folks had bought me a writing desk for my 21st and after they both passed, I helped my sister take care of the estate and had my desk and an old rocking chair that my Nana had and got them professionally packed up and shipped over to the states where I live now. They arrived and everything was crushed. So freaking sad and was really upset about it. This shipping company paid for the loss, but it was still really suxie... Anyway, I get it, once its gone its gone...:pout::pout:

I'd love to be good at woodworking, but I have too many hobbies and projects. I'd consider myself more of a jack of all trades. I built a computer desk over the weekend, but really it was just the top from birch plywood, then some gas pipe legs. I had a maple cupboard pre-cut kit that I used as well. I'll get some pictures later tonight. I am better at building offroad bumpers lol.

Trans-tint dyes work very well. Rocker, Woodcraft, etc.

Agreed. Used it on this. I would suggest not using shellac as a finish though as the alcohol will pick the dye up.

    Anybody using aniline dyes?

I really like them, but they tend to fade in direct sunlight.

I learned a process using analine dye, sealed with lacquer, and top coats of Japan color thinned with mineral spirits. Finish top coats of clear lacquer.

Really clean and nice depth of color.

Just interested if anybody else has done this.

The cabinet does not look as dark as it does in the photos, it blends better in person. Simple desk for a simple dude
