Opinions on my suspension build

I've been putting together a King suspension build for my 2016 TRD off-road short bed and would like some feedback on the combo.

The truck is my daily driver, but I also go off pavement at least a few times a month, sometimes for a few miles or sometimes for hundreds. I'm in the four corners area so roads vary across deserts to mountains, washboards, small or medium rocks, dips, washouts etc. I'm looking for comfy on road and much faster speeds off-road. Truck is normally stock weight and on big trips has up to ~400 pounds of gear/people, no towing. I was going to go with add a leaf, but seems the dakar pack will be much better in the long run.

This is what I've decided on so far, along with the ECGS bushing replacement:


I picked these parts because they seem like the best components for a two inch lift for what I do and that will also be durable for many years with easy maintenance.

Any thoughts would greatly help!

Looks like a sweet setup, Downsouth Motorsports builds the rear shocks special for the Dakar leaf springs which give you an inch more of droop. Basically adds an inch to the extended and compressed length of the shock. Otherwise this is exactly the setup I want when I get rid of my OME shocks, already have total chaos uca and dakar leaves.

 

You gave shock prices... how about the Dakars ?

 

because of where you live its a good option.

I was going to go this route but ended up going Fox 2.5 extended instead with TC UCA and dakar.
Only reason, talked to local shops and they all said the same, Fox stands up to Ontario, Canada climate much better than Kings does.


The two are so closely matched in terms of performance cant go wrong with either really. Just Fox uses slightly better material for it which is why it stands up to our climate better. But since you don't need to worry about that I think you'll be good.

 

This is exactly what i have in my garage for my 18. In addition, i got the ecgs bushing, brake lines, and a cab mount chop.

 

Yep...those rear shocks are good for about 1.5" or under; otherwise it limits travel. It may or may not be an issue depending how much lift and/or settling you get out of the leaf springs.

Sounds like you don't mind spending the coin...
With those leafs, I'd go with a Total Chaos shock relocation and 2.5x10" King bypass shocks.
It'll require wheel spacers or new wheels with the offset/backspace to clear the shock relocation. If Downsouth rebuilds the King OEM rear shock for more travel, as kylerocker10 mentioned, you could forego the 2.5x10" bypass shocks, shock relocation and wheel spacers/new wheels.

Don't forget extended brake lines and bumpstops.

Buy from someone who'll work with you; make recommendations on and modify coil spring rate and valving... for your intended setup and expectations. Accutune, Downsouth Motorsports, Filthy Motorsports...

I just think it gets a bit more complicated than buying 'the good stuff', if you have high expectations...just my opinion.

 

If I didn't want to go with the shock relocation and 2.5x10" shocks, could I just get the extended travel from Downsouth to match the Dakar leafs and have that be fine, or would that cause damage and not work since the leafs can move further than the shocks? If I did that would I need extended brake lines and different bumps than the factory ones? Same question if I didn't get the Downsouth adjustment and went with the standard King 2.5 smoothy 121A shock in the back? So far I've been working with Wheelers Offroad and they have been great.
