I've seen beer threads and whiskey threads, is there anyone here who enjoys a good rum? It can be straight, in coke, Cuba Libre... post your favorites.

These are some that I currently have or recently tried.

If you can find #6... get it... fantastic rum... worth every penny... and it's not that expensive.

Im not a big drinker or alcohol connoisseur, but I do enjoy a bottle of Appleton's rum.

Isn't rum made from mole asses?

Just kidding. Subbed for research reasons.

I've seen Appleton, they have a pretty wide range. I've been meaning to try them, I just have 5 other bottles to go through first (#s 2-6 on my list above)

Is it the taste or alcohol content that makes this one good? Isn't a lot of the Overproof stuff is mixed with Everclear or 151? If so, that sounds brutal.

It has a distinct flavor but it really goes good in frozen mango and rum drinks. My wife is a bartender so she knows what she is doing in mixing what with what.

I guess I'll have to give it a try when I get back to the US.

If you find a bottle of Pedro Mandingas Rum, I'd suggest picking it up. It's Panamanian, white, really good. Also... if you're in Bogotá or Panama City (Panama) try his rum bar... great coctails.

Pedro Mandingas has their own rum, made in Panama but they have a bar here in Bogota
