Yeah luckily ford put that 2.3 in everything. My buddy had an SVO mustang with it. It was pretty fast. He has a cosworth head, stroked it, etc. running a monster turbo. His problem is he kept taking it to junk tuners and used a engine management system that was cheap kinda did the job but wasn't good, so he melted a bunch of pistons and rebuilt the eng. several times.

 

We have to stay low profile and stick to the threads we like. Arguing in threads where things can easily spin is taking you closer to the ban hammer lol first forum for me as well and still don't get why people get angry so fast behind their screen lol

That was a fantastic explanation about mechanical lockers! I knew there were some habits you had to change but I wasn’t sure what all they were. Hmmmmm.

 

I can see that one going downhill really quickly will be interesting to watch. The guy who wrote about lockers is spot on hope the OP listens to him and the loud mouths that don't know don't drown him out.

 

Some brands are noisier than others from what I've seen. We ran Detroit locker on our racecar for one season then switched to an eaton and the detroit was noisier the clicking noise that is common. But that was for a for 9in converted to a full floater so it could be different for other axles.

Don't have any experience or heard of them before so I don't know. Only experience I have is with detroit and eaton. I think personally the eaton works a little better but I don't know if it is available for the tacoma's

 

Wrong thread but still about bilstein 8112, post #16, Sorry resale value is the least of my worries when buying shocks and struts. This is from a guy who probably knows nothing about bilsteins either.

Hmmmmm sounds interesting. So what’s your argument as to why we aren’t seeing this used in general applications throughout tacoma world? Looks legit but I’m apprehensive as my truck is pulling double duty

Because being locked isn’t necessarily always a good thing. For example on snow and ice with an open diff, one tire will spin while the other won’t. This is a good thing because the stationary tire will act like an anchor keeping you in line. Another is these can be noisy. If you read the link kenosabe posted above it that guy explains it really well.

The main benefit to me is I can install it myself, and it’s cheaper. So I can be locked for $400 as opposed to doing a full regear and arb for $2200, when I don’t necessarily need a regear at the moment.
