I have no idea when the LBJ's were changed, but they are very tight. Should I change them anyway? If I get both LBJ's, there are 8 bolts that I need also. I believe that's it for the hardware?

Yes it's straight forward job and easy to do, even if they are tight if they have 100k on them I would replace them and the bolts too. Why take a chance on an easy job to save a few bucks when everyone knows Lower ball joints were a bad design from the start, USE OEM ONLY
I change mine every 100,000 miles like an oil change

    Bone Stock.

    First picture is a Sequoia.

Second is a taco with a "trail disaster" lift. Trailmaster lifts literally removed the upper control arms.

It is pretty great. Happened to me the week I bought the truck.

I am over 10, probably over 15, but certainly less then 20. In just parts. Labor is hundreds of hours.

Does the axle nut have to come off to change the LBJ's and if so, do I need to get new ones? Thanks

No, the axle nut can stay on. You only need to take of 6 bolts on the 4wd...the main castle nut, tie rod nut and the 4 bolts down below. It's a good idea to replace those bolts.
