Long story short I picked up an 05 4runner sr5 with 74k, 4.0 2wd. 6400$ out of the auction at work. Carmax gave me 3100$ for the 3rd gen. Couldn’t pass it up. Sucked to see the 3rd gen go after so much work we did to it, but the 4th gen was too good to pass up.

No. A year ago I bought a 2000 4runner for my little brother from the auction at work. We sold the tacoma a few months ago after my little brother bought himself a corolla so we kept the 4Runner. @Taco No Baka, @allenfab, @Key-Rei, @Timbo89 helped me do a bunch of maintenance to it. Couple weeks ago this 05 4runner popped up so I bought it and sold the 3rd gen 4runner back to Carmax for 3100.

I love and occasionally miss my tacoma, but damn I’m really getting used to the 4r and how useful it is for us. Being able to toss the dog in the back, keeping the seats clean. we have a camping trip planned this month and plan to sleep in the back of it. We’ll see how that goes but I’ve got high hopes. Most importantly. It feels so good to be out of the 3.5 and back into the 4.0.
