    Looking good

I have thought about doing a flatbed on mine. I think it would be more functional for work.

Do it man its so much more room. The plastic beds are so freaking stupid. It pisses me off that people still buy em. If some salesman would have tried to sell my grandad a plastic bed he would have beat the shit out of him for trying, then drug his lifeless body through the streets naked for just working for a company that biult one the first place.

Man so simple to answer....I don't belong here. Besides obvious political aspects... There are waaaaaayyyyyy too many people in the us to suit me, and waaayy too few remote helicopter jobs. I dont like flying near other humans in other aircraft cause most people dont pay attention to what they are doing. I had a buddy go to the hospital the other day cause he a plane LAND ON HIM while he was hovering a foot above the runway about to take off. How do you not see a helicopter with a 35 foot blade disk below you while landing????? I wanna be able to fly for about 6 months doing remote work in the bush, then vanish for 6 months without a trace. Drive up to Cape York if I want. Maybe go to the Victorian Highlands if I so choose. It's very very hard to find places in America where no one else is. Alaska is about the only place left, and in essence it's no different than austrailia..both are separated from the lower 48, both are harsh terrain, both take a plane ride to get there, both have over 80% of thier population living in only 3 or 4 major cities. I did remote work in Alaska last summer and loved every minute of it. The next step for me as a single guy with no kids, is another country where my job skill is in high demand, and can be of major profit to me. We only get one life and I am trapped in America, where 90 percent of the roads are paved, and 78 % percent of the land is private. I am going to broaden my horizons.

I duno, I am not sure you have been to much of Canada. I live in Northern Ontario and you can simply disappear in the woods at any minute if you want to. 15 minutes outside of my small city of 50k people you can be in the woods, not one person around, lakes every where.

Yeah I know about that tax, I have already made steps to avoid it as much as possible. It only really a tax on any work you did overseas while a citizen of the US. Just another way to get their grubby, dirty hands on my money so the can have a gov funded plane for most upper politicians, give $30 million dollars to China for a new red light system, while at the same time can't even keep our gov in operation...

I mean, the minimum wage down there is $27 an hour. Healthcare is free as long as you pay your taxes and pass the drug tests. Most everything is diesel and get over 25 mpg. They do smart things down there...here we eat tied pods. There is no comparison really

I am seriously considering doing the frame swap, making a new bed, and dropping the truck off at diesel toys to be converted

Hmmmm I would love to flat bed my truck. Maybe after I gain some skill redoing a utility trailer this spring/summer. I would like to do aluminum flat bed but I can't weld aluminum. I'll just have to paint the steel real good as I live in the rust belt.

If you offroad or do dirt roads a lot stay away from aluminum. You will find a lot of dweebs on here that say that's not true, but i have seen it. Down under if you go in the bush or travel, steel only. Aluminum can't take the vibration at all. What you can do is make a steel frame, then glue an aluminum bottom down to save weight. Glue it with sikaflex. Then blind rivet all 4 corners.
