Does anyone know if I will need a new battery to support a winch? I have the stock 3rd gen battery currently

Just did some quick reading on this subject.

While it's not necessary at all....it might be a good idea to work on a secondary setup.

Especially if you plan to run a fridge in the future.

I was going to get a group 31 battery in replacement of the OEM one and then add a solar panel or get one of those cool dual setups but they are so pricey (at least for the Offgrid Engineering one).

Ill do some digging as well. With a future fridge and a winch, i wonder if thats too much draw

Wouldn’t imagine but your idea is great with the solar setup but perhaps a optima may hold your over till then.

I dig the optimas and have had good luck in the past with them. If I go this route, then it would set it up for eventual dual optimas... which IIRC, weigh similar to 1 group 31 battery

I ordered one last night :anonymous:

If I remember right, it suggested a battery with a minimum 660 cca. Not sure what the stock one is rated at.

A bunch a cool stickers, a bada ass MetalMiller Tx Longhorns grill emblem painted Hemi Orange, JBA long tube headers with o2 sims, Diff breather mod, Red LED interior lights, Fancy head unit that plays ipod n movies, Also DIY install factory stuff like, factory cruise control, factory intermittent wipers, OME nitro struts with 886x springs and toy tec top plate, JBA high caster UCA's for better alignmnet and dey beefier too, Old Man Emu Dakar leaf springs in da rear with the gear, U bolt flipper, Ivan Stewart TRD rims with 33" K Bro 2's, some bad ass weather tech floor liners so I don't muck up my interior, an ATO shackle flipper for mo travel in da rear wit the gear, also super shiny Fox 2.0 shocks back there too, all sorts of steal armor for bouncing off of the rocks like demello sliders, AP front skid, trans skid, n transfer skid, demello gas tank skid, and a tough as nails ARB bumper with warn 8k winch, I'm sure there's more
You'd be good with a 31m alone, but a higher capacity alternator would be a good combo. Not sure if you have the tow package or not, but models with tow package have a higher amp rating alternator than the non tow package models. What you could o as well os purchase an alternator, then replace your stock one, and send the stock one to get rewound. At that point you may have to get in to replacing the wiring as well to larger wire to handle the load. Let's talk on Sunday bout this.

    Yes of course!!!

I do believe i have the lighting sorted now as well.

Going to get this light bar:

    https://www.bajadesigns.com/products/S8-20-inch-Driving-Combo-Amber-LED-Light-Bar.asp

    and these fogs:

    https://www.bajadesigns.com/products/squadron-sport-pair-amber-led-wide-cornering.asp

This should give me good fog light performance and width from the fogs, and a bit more reach in the center with the combo light bar. Ill end up having white lights on the top half (rigid light bar and ditch lights) and amber on the bottom half (fogs and bumper light).

    I think this should work

    hahahaha maybe not
I just compared lumens on those and the Squadron Pros... I was thinking I could run the outer ambers as daily fog lights and use the Pros off-road only. Nope. They're 1.5 times brighter than the pros
