Dropped my truck off at the local dealer in Salem, Oregon this morning at 7am. They were suppose to fix an on going 6 Month long issue with my Entune and...Top off my Fluids, Check my Front Diff Fluid, Trans Fluid, Transfer Case Fluid, Rear Diff fluid.
Picked the truck up at 3pm. Seems the tech that replaced the head unit last week didn't update the software. System worked in the parking lot for 5 minutes now it doesn't work again.
Drove back to work. Found a few minutes so pulled the truck into one of my bays. (I own an automotive repair facility) Washer fluid still low, P/S fluid still low, Brake fluid still low. Raised the truck up in the air. Front diff inspection plug was not touched. Trans was not touched. Transfer case was not touched. Rear diff Inspection plug, Not touched. So, Anybody hear anything good about Wilsonville? It's the next closest dealer for things I can't take care of myself. Kinda pisses me off that I have a receipt showing ALL fluids were topped off and inspected as needed. And, there were multiple verbal communications with the service adviser insisting on wanting the drivetrain fluid levels checked.

Sorry, I'm just a bit pissed off. I've been a tech for over 25 years now and it kills me to have someone else touch my vehicles. Obviously they didn't, Ha. (By the way, It's got 6K on it and everything is under warranty so thats the reason for me going to the dealer)

Have you tried Corvallis? I had Wilsonville screw up my skid plate about six years ago and never told me about it. Never went back so things might be better now. I can't say Corvallis is good now for maintenance since I'm still waiting on delivery for my return to Toyota but I used to go there before without issues.

That seems pretty blatant. Are you going to call them on It? You are in the business, can you file a complaint with the state licensing agency?

I didn't know there was a dealer in Corvallis? I might need to check em out. Bend is 3 hours or so from me. Something along I-5 would be nicer. McMinnville, Portland,, Wilsonville, Eugene.
And Yes Bikenut. I called my service adviser immediately after I realized that nothing had been done to the vehicle and left a message for him to call me. We'll see what he has to say. At this point I don't know if he didn't relay the work to the tech or if the tech played on his phone instead of working on my truck. I do know that the service adviser and I discussed what I wanted inspected twice. My main concern is making sure that the transmission has the proper levels. I've heard some bad storys.

Wilsonville is where I take my Taco as it’s the closest. Their service department is okay but nothing special. You have to be very clear about what you want and be sure the service advisor puts it in writing. I’ve heard bad stuff about Gladstone Toyota so I’d stay away from them. Never tried McMinnville service but their sales guys are straight shooters, might be worth the drive. Good luck.

You own an automotive repair facility, have a lift and been in the business for a long time AND STILL relay on the dealer to check and replace your fluids???. What do you fix in your place? RC cars?
Just did all my fluids last Saturday, in the driveway on the back and knees. Why would I ever trust a dealer to check/replace fluids??? for free under warranty purposes?

I go to Beaverton and never had a problem. They have upgraded there service area and it runs pretty dang smooth when you arrive. Hardest part is getting there with all the traffic in the area.

Hi Dacon. The truck was scheduled for a 6 Month on going Entune issue. I wanted them to Top Off all fluids for Free while it was there. And check All my DriveTrain Fluids so that it is documented at the Dealer for Warranty purposes due to Tacoma Transmissions supposedly being under filled from the factory and causing issues. I do not have the software to read ATF Temps (on Toyotas) during Inspection. This is a very important step on the vehicles we work on. We have seen serious transmission component failure from customers servicing their Automatic Transmissions without having the proper equipment to read Temp and Level readings. Until I buy the Software I don't want to take a chance. Plus, Like I said. I want it documented for any future issue for Warranty purposes. Also, the Main point is, I have a reciept from Toyota indicating All fluids except engine oil topped off & drivetrain fluid levels inspected. This clearly was not done.

OP > and how did it help you to have dealer work documented for warranty? On the paper it says ALL fluids were checked and topped where/if needed. Now, in good faith you leave the dealer with a piece of paper (useless) and drive on your way at 65mph to home. On the way, the rear diff explodes from lack of lubrication, truck causes an accident. Insurance looks at the truck and paper from dealer and finds YOU at fault since the dealer paper says ALL is OK when you left. How do you prove is not your fault?
Unless you aim to a pissing contest with the dealer and insurance, stop using and trusting the dealer for routine maintenance, do your own fluids check and change.
About Entune, ask them to change it or buy a better radio and call it goods.

Let me help you make some money.
    - you have a auto shop.
    - you own a taco
    - buy the software for transmission check
    - put a big sign outside "ALL TACO WORK"

Thanks Dacon. I guess my real gripe is when someone looks me in the eye and says Yes, everything was done.

Wow, if I had a lift and lots of tools and a shop of my own. I'd not be going to the dealer for fluids or other routine stuff. I wish I could work on my rig but can't get under it anymore. I would call out that dealer tho and def not be going back.
OP I understand your need for the warranty work on the entune tho, but seems like they slacked on that as well.
A few years ago I had a deaaler tell me I needed new brakes on all 4 wheels. Car had 12k on the clock. Took it to another shop and found the brakes to be like new. Some dealers are just scum.

That's where I go. Had same issues with service writers on many things. Ask for Dan Levenhagen. He is the service manager and will make sure it's done right. He is great. I also head my head unit changed he had the ECGS bushing installed at no cost to me.

Thanks cbreze. I simply wanted fluids topped off while it was there being worked on for the Entune. Also wanted the Auto Trans Fluid level checked since I don't have the software for reading temps and I tow a lot. Like I mentioned in an earlier post, It's the fact that they looked me in the eye and said ALL drivetrain fluids were inspected and they were not. Have a great day.

I used a dealer in Springfield many years ago, can't remember the name and I was just passing thru, and they probably have changed hands by now but was really impressed. A simple oil change service on my 2004 taco. The part I liked was you could watch everything going on in the shop from a big window in the waiting room. I could see everything being done and could easily see my truck getting just what I ordered. The tech came out and told me how the truck looked great and didn't see anything amiss with it. Best service from a dealer I ever had.

Were you born yesterday? Local SPROUTS store has water bottles labeled "ORGANIC WATER" for $3.99 a bottle...
I would be upset if somebody didn't lie to me...
