I've been quoted anywhere from $2-3k to pay for someone to do it. I'm going to do mine myself figuring it's similar to a mx bike graphics kit; just bigger. $500 in materials and get it done over a weekend or two

Seems like a waste of money considering it'll get tore up in 3-5 years easily and they you'd have to do it again. Plus..who cares about paint? The shit we do to our rigs, paint is gonna get taken off. Battle wounds.

MX graphics are much thicker and pre cut to the shape, but I can see what you mean.

I have seen some Mexicans on youtube wrap some cars, and they are ridiculously efficient, but I would love and try to do my truck and boat myself. ~2k$ in savings is definitely worth at least trying. Im sure you can at least do the easy panels like the hood, and bedsides, and whatever proves too difficult (if anything) take it in and have a pro finish it off.

For me it is to freshen up/ cover up my 6.5 years of battle wounds and scratches as well as give it a slightly different look with the change in color. Plus I've got some new fiberglass bedsides going on and my front glass paint is starting to chip away from abuse. I figured I'd spend $2-300 in materials to paint the bedsides, but then they're fresh and the rest f the truck is a mess. So this way the whole truck gets a nice cleanup on appearances. If it only holds up to a year or two of my abuse, I may go a different route next time, but if it can last me 3-5 then I'll be happy

I got quoted about 2200 for basic wrap. Meaning they dont do under the door jams just visible surface. But they said its by the sq ft so depending on weater you have a tailgate or not could be a little less.
Dosnt look hard to do and have been thinking about this myself.

The wrap holds up well. I did my glass a couple of years ago. You'll get some scraches and little holes here and there depending how much you see mud. I deal with mud when it rains and snows. My truck is never clean because I work at an asphalt plant and is in constant abuse of our dirt yard. You do get your money worth. I never done a wrap before. Pretty straight forward but you have to be careful around the curves. Heat can be your friend. I wouldn't want to do it again tho.

Sounds like something's binding and letting go. It wouldn't be too hard to inspect all the main bolts on your suspension including the uniballs and ball joints except for the cam bolts unless you feel confident marking the cams. If you were getting that sound from your steering rack I imagine you'd feel a jolt through the steering wheel - not saying it couldn't happen, but usually I've read about the suspension making pops and cracks and it was my experience too. Nice threads eh?

Mine is battleship grey from Avery films
It's held up well but I agree that it's a pain in the ass to clean

    Matte films are super porus

I think all of the films are porus nowadays for ease of installation.

Usually the gloss and satin films are easily cleaned and maintained
Only the matte films end up being a nightmare to clean

So I have a PreRunner, I plan on going LT in the rear soon. I know that PreRunners need driveshaft modification but 4x4 do not because they have a slip yoke between the carrier bearing and axle. Could I take the transmission yoke off my prerunner driveshaft and put it on the first U-joint of a 4x4?

some people wanna look good while having fun. I am one of those people.

I plan to wrap the runner once the paint is worse than it currently is now.

I think wrapping is a worthwhile investment. I originally did mine for my business. It held up very well for 2 years of good abuse so when I sold the business and removed the business wrap I re-did it with a solid wrap. It is cheaper than paint (if you are doing fiberglass fenders like I was) and keeps the factory paint from rusting where you may have deeper pin stripes (like many of us have down the sides of the doors).

Rusted body panels are a pain to replace. I want my truck to be around for a long time so I am fine spending money to protect those areas now.

To get more longevity from a vinyl wrap, have it laminated. OR have clear bra/paint protection film applied after to the hi-impact areas.

Looks like bushings to me. All angles on the shackle look good.
