Weld a nut to it and back it out.

I have one of these somewhere and it actually works pretty good. There are some knock-off brands but I cannot attest to their quality.
If you want to give it a try let me know and I'll see if I can dig mine up - I should do that anyway.

Ok, someone teach me something. I read this post:

    https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads...-3rd-gen-today.399305/page-3848#post-17083345

And the guy is talking about doing his own OME lift and then getting the vibes at like 23 mph. Said he took it into the dealer and they said he forgot to transfer the pinion shims.

Is he talking about the axle shims that go between the axle and the leafs at the U bolts? Do those come on the stock trucks? Seems fishy to me or I am just really stupid stupid when it comes to this. I thought the pinion (gear) was something else altogether? I thought I was learning what all the components of the the lift kit were.

Thanks. If I don't respond quickly it's because I am on the way home from work. But I do appreciate the answers and help.

When I lifted my 2016 Tacoma, I used a 2.5" tapered block in the back. No blocks are not the best form of lift but the ride quality was same as stock and it was cheap which is what I wanted. The tapered block clocks the pinion upward which helps to correct the pinion angle. Didn't take notice of any factory installed shims between the axle and leaf springs though?

I have no idea what he’s talking about. There are axle shims that attach to the bottom of the leaf pack that help correct driveline angle, but that’s something aftermarket. I’ve never heard of or seen them factory. That’s probably what they added but he misunderstood what was done.

Yea, ok, than I am right in thinking the same thing, which means I am learning about what makes up the various components of a lift kit.

I know how you feel. Eventually I am trying to get the Dobinson's Extended travel front and rear suspension (which is yellow shocks with teal coils) and also the JBA UCA's. All on a blue 4runner. My colors underneath are gonna be ugly AF.

Paint it all before install. Dobinson is offering black on some of their parts now, control arms for sure. I think the JBA arms are of better quality and construction though

Hey guys, gonna be selling my 5100 rear shocks here in a week or two. Only 6 months old and 5,000 miles on them. No high speed stuff or anything and they’re in great condition. $100. Thought I’d give local first shot before I make an ad.

Tried that already, the washer bit that's poking out isn't allowing me to get the 23mm on it. That washer that got FUBAR is what I was originally trying to fix, and then I realized they rounded the whole damn thing off

So I can weld to the plug? My #1 idea is to just weld a nut to it, but I wasn't sure if I could weld to the plug with the flux core I have or not.

I'll try and get one after work tonight, if it isn't raining too hard.

I'm gonna try the weld a nut to it trick and see if that works, if nothing else I'll give this a shot.

Yep just weld the inside of the nut like a plug weld, good to go. To the best of my knowledge it's a steel plug. You'll need a new plug or at least a new o ring of course but that's no big deal.
