New to the board but I've had a couple of Tacoma reg cabs in the past. I currently have a lifted 2009 Silverado Z71 reg cab but I don't need a full size truck any more so I'm looking for a Tacoma reg cab. I also have a 69 Z28 being restored, a 1993 Jetcraft sprint boat and a 16' jet tunnel fishing boat.

Thanks. The 69 Z28 is actually an original 4 wheel disc brake car (the JL8 option) and is all numbers matching with original documentation. I have waaaaaayyyyy too much money sunk into the car! The 93 sprint boat is a 13' boat with a ZZ3 350 (345 hp) and jet drive. It will do around 65-70 mph the way it is set up right now. It's a blast to drive but you have to be careful because it will turn on a dime.

I'm in Ewing, NJ just north of Trenton. The Camaro is still in the middle of the restoration but it's originally Hugger Orange with white stripes. Here are a couple of in the process pictures and a picture I got from the original owner on the day he sold it in 1974.

    • Keep your truck. Especially if it is paid off.
    • 2014 was the last year for the regular cab.
    • 2005-2014 Regular cab only made up 10% of all the Tacoma's sold. I'd wager to guess that half-to-a-majority of them were sold to parts stores for delivery trucks.
    • Regular cabs in 2005-2014 only came with a 2.7L I4
    • You won't get better fuel mileage with a Tacoma.
    • Regular cabs don't have power windows, cruise or interment wipers unless the previous owner installed them.
I loved my Tacoma but honestly... I think you may miss a lot about your current Silverado. :crapstorm:

I hear where you're coming from but I've had stripped down vehicles before and I really don't care for a lot of the options or standard equipment they have nowadays. Power windows are nice in a full size truck but not really needed in a smaller pickup. I don't use the radio (steering wheel controls are a waste but increase the cost), don't need phone or Bluetooth or usb stuff, power seat is nice, power mirrors are nice to make quick adjustments, AC is nice but I rarely use it (mainly just for the defrost). The 335 hp 5.3 is really nice and probably what I would miss the most but the last 3 years I've only put 21000 miles on my daily driver so really not a big deal. I'm just surprised that nobody makes a small regular cab pickup 4x4 (and the Tacoma isn't nearly as small as the original small pickups). If I can get my price for the Silverado I will sell it and I have found a couple of local Tacoma regular cabs that I like, but it's hard to pull the trigger without having a buyer for my truck. I might have to do it since they may never make a small regular cab pickup again so if I find a really clean truck, I'll probably jump in. Here's a couple pictures of some previous trucks/cars/boats I've had.

I'm a big fan of the 1st generation 4Runner. I had an 89 about 10 years ago a loved it, only sold it because I bought my first Tacoma and was moving from TX to VA.

Yeah, I've had a white 88 SR5 V6, a white 86 4 cyl, red 88 SR5 V6, black 88 SR5 V6, red 87 SR5 4 cyl turbo, silver (painted primer black) 88 SR5 V6. The turbo 4Runner had a cracked turbo and I bought a rebuilt turbo, honed out the exhaust manifold, honed out the turbo exhaust housing and ran 2-1/2" exhaust. That truck would spool up and launch! The most fun was spooling it up in the snow and letting off the brake while in 4wd and it would hook and take off. :)

Well, it looks like I'm in the market for a regular cab Tacoma. 10 days ago, somebody ran a stop sign on me and we hit each other pretty good. Luckily, it was at a slower speed so nobody was hurt but I just got word today my Silverado is totaled. The suspension got all bent up and the frame is cracked and bent/twisted. You can see in the picture how the cab is lifted towards the back and rotated towards the driver's side. The body really wasn't that bad since the front right tire took most of the impact. So I'm starting to look for a regular cab Tacoma 4x4 which is not so easy to find. I see a few in the area, but apparently, they have gold bars in them somewhere! :D

Figured I would update this. The Silverado was totaled and I picked up a 2013 Tacoma reg cab. I'm still trying to get used to the missing hp compared to the Silverado.

AT, I have 2 small boats to tow around and my back does not like using a clutch. I'd love to run a supercharger but I can't justify the cost. I had a 1987 4Runner with the turbo 22RE engine and I ported out the manifold and turbo housing and that thing ran great.
