Lucky! I tried to find a rental with a shop for a long time. Just couldn't swing it. You can rent some places here with 80 acres, a shop, barn, and huge house for about $1000. Driving distance to work kills it though.

man i would totally go for a place like that. Already drive 24miles a day one way. And im paying around a 1000 with utilities added in or over it for a shitty trailer house. But does have a shop.

I really want a house with like 5 acres, a shop, and a house. All i want damn it. That alone is 340-450k range out here..so stupid.

We really want land. We will start saving asap to get some out here. It would probably be 45 min to an hour for me to get work from that place. I refuse to commute that long here. Might as well be in Boise with traffic at that point.

There are times that I wish I was in college again and then there are times like last night that make me feel great to be where I am at.

I was sitting at the vets center talking with some friends and an uneasy feeling came over me. That gut wrenching feeling that reminds you that you forgot to do something important. This is the feeling that I got every time I needed to get home to finish homework. School really stressed me out. I wasn't likely to do anything else "fun" until my homework was finished or I had a strict plan to get it done at a later time.

Wiping my hands clean after work and not thinking about deadlines until 6 am is a great feeling. I loved school, but it really stressed me out. I always had a paper to be writing, a book to be reading, or an exam to think about. It never stopped with the wildlife field.

The thing I miss about college are my friends and the place I rented in the final 2 years (very stable housing).

I think once my life settles out here and we are given some stability with work/money, I'll be pretty darn happy.

We are putting an offer on the house tonight. We got preapproved for 150k last night (the house is much cheaper but we told them this was our max before picking it). We decided it is in our best interest to try to secure this unicorn of a place and risk losing our earnest money if I don't get the job. I'm a betting man and have certainly made worse bets.

Let's hope life cuts me a break .

yeah..my college life was way different than that. It was more practiving trumpet...or audio projects. Which were mostly hard work but fun too. haha I mostly miss being super busy with multiple different things going on. Film mixing, audio projects, trumpet stuff, working at the symphony, time for the gym, lots of time for the trucks, not so many bills..haha

    Oh well.

Good luck on the house man!

The seller took the cash offer. I don't blame them. Just sucks but that's the game.

Going to look at a foreclosed home today. 2bd 1bath in a nice neighborhood. There is a smaller attached 1 car garage. Looks a bit rough on the outside (mismatched vinyl siding) but the inside looks great from pictures. 9500 sqft lot with room for a future shop. Dirt cheap and hoping to get it cheaper if it looks good in person.

We would need to fence it (I can do that with a few friends here) and buy new (to us) appliances. It would be a project to get it to what we want, but as of now it is 100% livable.

In other news, I met a cool guy at the vet center who used to be a mechanic. He has everything I need (including the skill) to yank the engine. Once everything is settled down I'll be deciding the best route to take with the engine and making sure it's done right. Most likely swap in a used motor for simplicity.

I posted in the Wyo thread but we received some much needed great news. I am going to be converted from a intern to a term fish biologist in May. This comes with a big fat raise and most likely 4 years of work. If the current fish bio retires (long over due) I can be converted to a permanent position.
