What have you done to your Tacoma today? 1st Gen Edition

Do the frame plates while the bed is off too. Much easier to do.

 

I have standard rod ends, did you do the welded just to avoid low hanging fruit or was there a fitment issue?

 

im using the stock upper mounts but have welded on lower shock mounts about mid axle. and im using 12" billies. yes its probably over kill but i didnt know what i really needed so i went over what i thought i needed.

 

Didn't think to order them, if the bed comes off as easy as everyone makes it seem I'll take it off to do them next time.

That's not overkill, that's just not measured, I can't even imagine how that doesn't bottom out all the time.

 

Anyone running kings, fox, icon or any other performance coilover without resi's notice any shock fade? I know someone selling a set of 2.5 kings with about 6k on for about $150 less than retail.

I haven't been doind any research on front suspension yet, mostly conconcer on handling the rear weight then moving to the front. But if i can get a deal I might have to jump.

 

Better yet should have boxed the whole inside frame

 

Mine get rougher on long bouncy roads after an hour or two of really going at it, but they also need a rebuild so take my input with a grain of salt.

well the rear is at 3" at the moment. i'll be putting 10" ads shocks on when i get them in a couple of months. i knew that the all pro expo leafs was going to lift the truck higher since i have no weight.

 

I’ve never seen on here once, but I guess I can’t say I’m surprised.

 

I bought some extra plate to reinforce the area where I put the new upper mount but I suppose I could go and get another sheet of metal, really not sure I'll need that much support though, frame plates seem like they'd be enough.

 

Shorten the OAL by about an inch to help raise the lower mounts. Keep in mind I have 2.5s, if you have 2.0s it won't be as much of a problem.

If you're going for long travel. Do both. The frame back there moves so damn much

 

I have 2.5s as well. If I have to lengthen the bump stops a bit to solve it then I will until I can get different rod ends.

 

Did mine the same way as you and the upper shock mounts sit in the ridges of the bed. Running 12" shocks but I'm using 63s and use just about all. I think its better to run the tube to the outer edge of the frame to get a better weld and be able to plate it to the outside of the frame.
