Angelfire is pretty damn rad, I personally would rather ride there than CB but thats considering that i would ride to exhaustion and not have any energy to go out afterwards. If you havent been, it its definitely worth it to check out.

All this talk of RTT, I just got mine installed. I have not used mine yet, but the one thing I've been told about set up and tear down is you can keep everything inside it such as blankets and pillows. So in theory it should be quicker than a traditional tent...?

I had a pretty busy weekend, finally broke the cobs off of the Yeti. Did a quick trip to my hometown Seattle. I rode Tokle West it was wet and snotty...
IMG_5409.jpg IMG_5411.jpg Then I added this fat hog to the arsenal... I've named her (Big Birtha) its an xr650R with over sized tank.

@ccallen our experience with our Tepui was that you definitely save space by keeping some bedding upstairs. Obviously the mattress. But it got tempting to leave too much up there, and then a two minute foldup became a ten minute struggle trying to squeeze it shut and get the cover zipper closed the last 12”. Experiment with what fits and don’t overdo it; and if you do, it may be quicker to open it up and take a few things out, than to struggle closing it up.

Good to know thanks for the info! I closed mine up with the sleeping bag and blanket, it didn't seem too bad. But thats not including pillows or extra blankets.

How much does your bike weigh? I am planning on throwing my trackbike with a hitch mounted trailer like yours. I would be at about 450 pounds using a moto tote.

I think its about 300lbs. Even that put some pretty serious squat on my truck with a few other things in the bed.

I so wish I had started biking before I moved to Utah. I lived like 15 mins from Tiger Mountain and Tokul West / East. :annoyed:

Thinking of going to see some Seattle family in April maybe as an excuse for renting a Uhaul van and hitting up Bellingham and other trails with my bike.

Truck looks great with the tent! I can normally go from driving to sleeping in less than 10 mins even with my sleeping gear and clothes bag stashed in the truck. So it should be a lot quicker, as long as your truck is somewhat level.

One pro tip is find a cheap outdoor welcome mat. Makes a great place to leave your shoes and to put them on in the morning, esp if they are muddy from biking, etc. I stash it under the ladder when it is folded up, or if I know I am going to be bouncing around dusty Utah trailheads, I'll leave it in the bed so my post ride "drive home" shoes and socks dont end up full of moon dust...

Yea man Washington has some great riding! Belingham at galbraith mtn is one of my favorite places to ride. Thanks for the tip on the carpet. I used to keep one in my truck when I lived in Washington and had to change out of moto gear because it was so wet and muddy... If you head that way you should try to roll through Missoula!

That would be awesome. And yes Moab is a goal for sure, it looks like it will be closer to May.

I owned the street legal, air-cooled predecessor to this bike (XL600R) for quite a few years and rode from California to Alaska (and back) in 1987. I was very intrigued when the water cooled 650's came out, but they never made it into a dual-sport and registering these bikes in California has become impossible. So now my heavy-weight is a Suzuki DR650. I like the e-start but damn, it's so much heavier to pick up than my Santa Cruz Tallboy! The DR has never been in or on my Tacoma.

Thats bad ass I could not imagine riding that bike from Cali to Alaska....! The suzuki's are pretty sweet, I owned a DRZ for a quick minute. I've never ridden the DR but I'm sure its great. I would definitely recommend NOT trying to lift your DR into your truck.. Stick to the tall boy.

Took me a minute to figure out what you were saying since QR and thru-axle are 2 different things (mostly).

For the record, boost is more about hub width. 15mm axle hubs used to be 100mm wide, then they BOOSTED it to 110mm. They made it a little wider for "more rigidity and bigger tire clearance" says the marketing guys. Of course then your axle had to get boosted as well, so I guess you were on the right track.

This one should work just fine for you, and it fits in the bed tracks of our trucks. They also sell a non-track mount if you have a 3rd gen with no front rail.

    https://rockymounts.com/collections/adaptor-and-truck-mounts/products/driveshaft-track

Unrelated: Don't get me started on the terminology "super boost plus". Technologically it has its pros/cons, but mainly the name just sounds like the Pivot Cycles intern phoned that one in on a Friday afternoon.

    Nice setup!!
DID you have to do any bracing for the rtt on the camper shell? Or bed side supports?
