will 255/85/16's fit?

will 255/85/16 km2's fit with stock rims with a 1.5 in front lift without rubbing issues. I currently have 265/75 TA KO's and between them would be about a 1.5 in difference in tire height

 

You will probably still have rubbing. Those are 33's.

I was going to ask this myself except with 255/80/17. I think at the very least the mud flaps would have to go.

 

YES! That size will fit with NO TRIMMING for normal driving and mild to moderate wheeling, but my experience is with the Cooper Discoverer ST tires. KM2s may not fit.

km2 255/85/16s are going to rub, you will need to remove the mud flap, trim some plastic at the bottom rear end of the wheel well and mod the pinch weld and possibly make your bump stops a little longer. How much depends on how much and how hard you use it off road. even then you may need a good alignment guy to get the wheel forward in the well to keep you off the cab mount. You may get away without any of this if you stay on the street but even then you will be rubbing here and there on a daily basis. Good luck.

 

how about with the 5100s at 2.5 and the tsb on stock wheels?

 

then they will fit, with minor rubbing if any.

 

good to hear. I want to maintain at least 20 mpg though. I'm at 22.2 over the last 50k on 245s and 265s. So I am stuck with leaving it stock and putting some street tread michelins 265/75-16 and keeping it reliable or start messing with lifting the front end, swapping gears, shocks etc. I want this truck to last 250k and am wary of creating unecessary probs, but want it to look cool too.

what you guys think about leveling kits and reliability? my local dealer will install it all and probably do the gear swap

 

Your gona drop 2 mpg for sure turning the heavier tire if you stay stock. What gear swap are you going to?

 

^yep, I was considering the 255's to go with my small lift, but I just cant take that hit in MPG so im going with the 265/75's.

 

4.56 or 4.88 depending on strength of pinion, cost and needed mods. You still think mileage will drop once I do gears. Remember the speedo will read slow so the difference needs to be adjusted to calculate true mpg drop.
