Went in for an oil change and talked to the dealer about it. When they handed me my keys, said they ordered the parts. Parts came yesterday(arrived next day) and are installed today. No real hassle.

Called the dealer and he said the parts are odered and would be a couples days to get them. They called the next day and now they are installing them!! with the others TSB's

I'm scheduled to go to the dealer tomorrow for the TSB. I told them the year, but they never asked for the VIN #. I said it was bottoming out, with little weight in the bed or a small trailer attached.

He asked if the truck would have a load in it, when I bring it in tomorrow and I said no, so he gives me the long uhhhh..... and says well it's going to be hard to re-create the issue your speaking of.

Look, I understand its work, and their tired of people calling about recalls, but I'm simply just trying to justify going in DEBT up to my "eye balls" for a truck that simply bottoms out when I hit a speed bump at >10 mph.

Well, I'm done ranting :D I guess I would like to know, how it is that so many people have it verified over the phone?

    Thanks!

I had to bring in my truck to the dealer, but they did not try to recreate the problem. They just took the VIN, had me sign some stuff, and ordered the parts. I was in and out in 10 minutes.

I think the only dealers that make you re-create it are the ones that haven't done the leaf TSB before.

The dealer I bought my truck from said NO I don't need them, That's when I called a dealer closer to me that I found out did a leaf spring change. At first the clerk said my truck was not on the VIN list. Then when I called Toyota things changed. If I were you I was call Toyota.

Spoke to my dealer's service manager today regarding 2010 DC SB Sport with 1600 miles, he agreed to the Rear Suspension TSB and Transmission Re-flash, no debate, I emailed him the VIN, he's calling me when the suspension parts come in, Monday or Tuesday. Great service.

I have 10,000 Miles on my 2008 4dr Taco. The rear has gone down about 1" over the 10k miles. I ordered a SnugTop and I guess it's time to get the TSB done.

I don't want to be cocky and walk in with the TSB, and I don't want to break it out only after they deny me...

I did bottom out carrying a Sit-Down Lawn mower which pissed me off. So, any ideas on how to approach them?

    Thanks Normbal...!

I did like you said and the dealer got the Service Man ager and said they would test drive it. then after they came back and said they were going to order:

    2 New Leaf Springs
2 New Rear Shocks (I already have the Bilstein's...?)
    Alignment
and two other things i forgot

I have the TRD 4x4 Off Road. Were they supposed to order springs?

I'm Stoked my arse won't be dragging anymore...

I'll give you REp +1 as soon as i figure out how to do it...lol! :D

I spoke to the dealer this past Friday (April 30th).

I went in and claimed I had bottomed out with little, to no load in the bed of the truck. After sitting for 15 mins or so, they called me out of the waiting room and said they couldn't find the TSB for "Bottoming Out." He said, I did found one, that states "Harsh Ride Conditions." I said that was the correct TSB. **FYI, I would go with the TSB # on hand, NOT the paperwork, just the #** :)

So, I sat another 30 minutes, and they called me back out. He said, their was nothing wrong and the issue could not be re-created. I said okay... Then, he said, on the contrary, I will order the TSB "Kit" for you and we can install it next week. **Shakes his hand :D ** FYI, he needs the truck for a day**

Also, I asked what the kit included, and he said shocks ALL the way around and a pair of leaf packs.

Hope this helps, for guys going in sometime soon for their '09 and '10's.

I called Toyota and they called the dealer, then the dealer called me. he said they will order the springs and call me when they come in. They didn't even look at my truck. Went it on Thursday and just got it back today( Saturday). I told him about the TSB on the tail gate, he looked it up and he ordered i a new tail gate. Got to wait for that to come in. They even gave a me loaner car to use(2011 Camry)

You might want to verify with the dealer. The replacement shocks seem to be the Tokicos so if you are attached to your Bilsteins you may want to mention it.

if we already have Bilsteins all the way around, Why would they put Tokiko's on the front and leave Bilsteins on the rear?

i guess I'm asking why the TSB would replace the Rear Bilsteins unless it was needed...?

The TSB states that TRD models do not get shocks and 05-08 Non TRD models get Bilsteins. It also states that 09-10 models do not get a shock change regardless of package whether the vehicle is a TRD or non TRD model.

But, this seems to not always be the case by the accounts of some members including myself. Supposedly the dealer changed out my shocks with the exact same shocks that came on my truck.

Still waiting for the parts to arrive. Dealership still tells me they are still on back order. Service manager also says just to let you know Toyota doesn't have to do this tsb they are only doing it as a courtesy. I told him so you are telling me that tsb = courtsey. One month and still waiting for the parts.

When you went to the dealer initially what did you tell them? Or what was your truck doing?

Yes, technically Toyota could deny correcting the issue at hand. Technical Service Bulletins help dealer service departments address and correct in a timely fashion known issues the manufacturer has identified as being consistent problems with a model.
