I am hoping so. But if not, you could make something like this work:

The ranger raptor is bad ass. Yeah I'm also disappointed with just the snorkel add-on. Like really Toyota? Not better tires is a bummer also. Imnguessing Toyota fucked themselves with some kind of contract for the tires...I might look into the snorkel. Idk yet.

    Now that makes sense.

Other-wise I see it causing more damage in the long run with dust and dirt building up in the tube.

The most used/abused/wheeled to the extreme 3rd Gen Tacoma I’ve ever come across was still running the stock Wranglers. They were a solid choice by Toyota for a stock tire, which is why they are on the Pro as well. I changed mine out for K-bros, but realize I didn’t gain a whole lot other than looks.

:facepalm:So what was the point of this announcement? They hyped it up like awesome things were coming. I would have love a turbo or supercharger option, but really a snorkel and the Tacoma finally gets JBL speaker system.
They says it’s the most capable, but really get an off road upgrade the suspension and it’s better than the TRD PRO. It’ll still be cheaper than all the mark ups we’ve seen going up 60k. It still comes with those Goodyear tires that suck once you get off road. Just my two cents.

The new Tundra LED headlights look sweet, but really when is that thing gonna get an overhaul?

I honestly thought they were going to add some better tires too.

Haven’t read the articles. But did i see factory sliders on the runner in the video? That would actually be a good option imo

You know everyone will. The forum might find this “upgrade” amusing, but Toyota is going to make serious bank on that snorkel. Much better looking than the ARB wood stove version.

Think it is too early to tell if the 3rd gen is going be a long term reliable vehicle. Come back when they are 20 years old and have 400K miles on them.

By the sound of things most guys on here don't keep their vehicles that long to find out.

Not confidence inspiring if a bunch of little shit is going with them now.

Have cash to buy a new one, but believe that is keeping from opening up the bank account, QC isn't as good as it used to be, no ground shaking improvements over the years, fuel economy is so-so, payloads have gone down, they have gotten more expensive, manual transmissions are disappearing. (A V6 MT in the SR trim would be perfect, but no dice) Not too fond of the look-at-me-bro-styling...don't want to spend $35K+ on a truck that I am not too terribly excited about.

By that thinking I can tell you that 1st gens are the most unreliable, because I don't see any on the roads, they all on a junkyards. Only second gens and thirds.
Mind that my 2nd gen Prerunner tranny died at 156K miles, not a reliable truck either I would say and 2015 now that I have has some little problems too, none of the Tacoma's are long term reliable in my experience, but competitors are even worse.

Yeah I would take this over the ARB in a heartbeat.

So is the 2019 TRD Pro Fox suspension the same and the 4runner/tundra are just getting their own version of it?

If it has tits or wheels it's gonna to give ya trouble!

My 1st gen didn't start nickel and diming until 250K. It is now 19 years old with 365K miles on it, it did get there with some help, but still on the original engine and tranny.

Others being worse is really the only reason I keep on looking at Toyotas, as you can tell not terribly impressed with the direction they are going. But to tell you the truth I am kinda over vehicles in general. Horrible things to throw money at. Getting to the age where I don't want to spend any money on anything. This constant march of bigger and better keeping up the Jone's thing is getting a little old. "Oh look a new snorkel, wooooow, gotta run out and buy one of those!" Think the better thing is to get off the rat race tread mill...
