Not too bad, about a 500/year increase in my area but still sucks. Already paying close to a grand more for the tabs.

For all of the stupid shit California does, Proposition 13 was fantastic for me as a homeowner. It limited the assessment value increase every year and only reset on the sale to a new owner. I could budget my expenses without having an annual heart attack when the property tax bill came.

 

I just looked at a job in the Modesto area cause he t is apparently way cheaper to live there. Fuuuuuuuk me.

Yes, my question is why wouldn't a guy just sell everything he owns and just show up over there with no intention of leaving.

 

Not sure I could answer that question. Ive been spoiled by the 2nd A here in America, guns are heavily regulated in the UK. That's not all that keeps me here. I've started a family and a career here. I've contemplated moving back. 90% of my family still lives there.

 

I'm not sure the single malts would offset the potatoes for me.

 

I like my guns but it's not a deal breaker. I just can't wrap my head around how it's getting so hard for folks like me to survive around here.

 

Since I don't drink anymore I won't be able to blend in over there.

 

On the flip side, you'd always be the smartest/soberest guy in the room.

 

Can't say what it's like over in the UK now, but during the 80's and 90's the political/religious climate was very bad, which led to my parents leaving. We spent some time in ontario Canada, then eventually came to washington 27yrs ago.

 

Maybe I should build a cabin up on Ruby Ridge. I'm sure I have something the ATF or FBI would like.

No need to go that far. There was bunker guy in Snoqualmie/north bend a few years ago. He hid out in it for over a week after murdering his wife and daughter before he was found.

I'm not much for bunkers and I love my wife and kids. I do believe it would be an "improved structure" so yes taxable.

 

Ya, there is a reason it's cheap to live there.
