Hell yeah. Locked 2003 Prerunner here. I love mine, definitely don't see too many up here in the snow belt. So far the truck has done everything I've asked of it, much better than I expected, including/especially snow. I still have mixed feelings about the "Off-Road" stickers and whether or not they belong there, haha. This truck's never going to be a hardcore rock crawler, but for the north country logging trails that pretty much comprise the extent of my off-roading, it gets me everywhere my 4X4 4runner did. Tires really make up for a lot. I'm definitely looking forward to pushing the limits a little this next year to see what it can do.

First gen DC TRD prerunner ftw! Welcome home. The locker can and will get you into and out of some trouble lmao. It works great on rocks. I pretty much turn mine on anytime I go off road with some exceptions. I only turn it on as needed on rocks. Try to turn it on before you get stuck in mud or sand

For sure! So far I’ve only come across a couple situations where I felt it was truly needed. A couple weeks back I was visiting some family down in southern Indiana where it seems everyone and their grandma drives an XJ Cherokee on 35s. We hit some seasonal roads in a state forest and found that everything was washed out from the weird ice/melt/refreeze cycle, and much of the road was rocky iced-over washboard. Like an idiot I stopped the truck on an incline after crossing a washout to snap a pic and almost busted my ass because the road was like a skating rink. Between the pizza cuttter snow tires and the locker though, the truck just gripped and went off. I had a chance to try it a bit in the Upper Peninsula as well late last fall and again, was really surprised. You’re absolutely right about the locker being able to get you into trouble though, I definitely find I’m much more cautious about my lines and keeping up momentum.15883C6B-668A-472F-BCCD-8C054683D542.jpg
