Unfortunately, the frame is a bit rusty...

But, he just scored this gutted body shell with a decent frame for FREE!

Charlie, i see that you are big into how cold the A/C is in vehicles. You should come down to Texas in July and see what a cold A/C is really for! :D

I've done a mod or two
Texas is where we go to cool off haha, come to AZ in August. If your A/C even feels like it's doing something then you know it's a good system haha

    It's an Aspergers thing...

HVAC is something I've been obsessed with for the better part of a decade, especially residential central A/C systems.

The A/C in my Tacoma works better than the A/C in a 2016 Rolls-Royce Ghost!

Sometimes I back up close to the front doors of the produce place so loading cases of fruit is easier, but what the woman driving this red Taurus did was pointless...

I guess I need to tell you my hvac stories then.

    1. 2016 Tacoma
    Wonderful AC

    2. 2012 Outback
AC has always been mediocre, and needed a recharge last year when it became less than mediocre. Cost ~$250 at dealer for checkup and recharge.

    3. House, 1979 sq ft, purchase June 10, 2016 (4 days before truck), built 2005

The house had a mixed hvac system when purchased. Furnace and coils were Amana, rated 3.5 ton (recommended for house size is 4 ton), and were from 2005. Condenser was Goodman (which I think is also pretty much Amana), rated 3 tons, and was from 2012. So the system was already slightly undersized from the builder, and whoever replaced the condenser in 2012 undersized the cooling part of it even further. Efficiency for all components was rated 13 seer.

It did fine in winter, but in the summer it could only maintain a low of 78-79 on hottest days. We put up with it for a year and a half because we were getting by (other than a freon leak that cost ~$500), but in Jan 2018 the blower motor for furnace gave out, and we were looking at a minimum $700 (and recommended $1200) repair to keep a 12+ year old system going.

We decided to put in a Trane 4 ton 16 seer system, and after $7500 in added debt, it was installed. Furnace is just fine, but AC we'll know only when it gets hot enough. The one thing that bothers me is that the new system is extremely tight in the cabinet, so if parts need to be changed out at some point, labor will be super costly. Hopefully no major parts fail during my ownership of house.

Okay, so if brakes are gonna stay as-is, do you think the hood deflector is a good idea?
