Right, or normal bed height. If you have a drawer system you have even less of a gap to climb

 

I dont see the point. If you climbed in that way, you'd want the tail gate down, so to close the tail gate you have to open the back hatch..so you'd have to crawl back down, open the hatch, close tail gate, close hatch.

Might as well just climb in through the bed

 

i interpreted it as climbing in through the bed. I think he was just asking how far he has to jump to get up into the tent from the bed?

I could be wrong.

 

No answer on the bare aluminum finish? Nothing looks that great with old man tan, but thinking that would be pretty good.

I meant accessing the tent while you are in the camper. So once you climb into the bed, how far do you have to pull yourself up to get to the sleeping platform?

Just curious how big my lats are going to get

My guess is around 40" from the truck bed to the platform. Earlier in the thread it was mentioned that the height of the framing above the bed rails is 22", bed sides are about 19". A toughbox or bed drawer to step up on would probably make it easier going up and down.

 

I'd leave a storage box in there somewhere to act as a step stool.

 

We probably won't offer bare aluminum. The powder coating helps a smidge with condensation and also aids in keeping the panels from sounding tinny. I'm pretty sure the habitats are coated with sharkhide but that has to be periodically reapplied and does come off with some cleaners.

 

@crazysccrmd is right, 42" if you don't have a platform over the wheel wells.

 

For those that want different colors, getting a vinyl wrap after the purchase would be a simple solution. Given the panels are flat, wouldn’t be that costly either, or a DIY option.

 

Wrap the inside too, and help with condensation/frost and provide a light reflective color inside of desired.

 

Vinyl wrap with premade branch pinstriping and mud splashes, so you look really kool downtown at the mall!

 

About 23" tall and 22 linear feet.

 

Only really need to do 3 of the 4 panels, but simply estimate 24” high x 72” length of the bed x 2 of those, and 52” wide x 24” height x 1 or 2 for the ends. That should be close enough to get an estimated quote.

 

So there’s lots of talk about the aluminum panels, I thought the original plan also included soft sides like a Softopper ... any update on this, or am I wrong?

 

We're still going to offer it. But almost everyone on the deposit list seems to be wanting hard sides so most of the early effort has gone into those. It's on the early list of options to finish and will be compatible with the hard side frames, so switching at a later date will also be an option.
