I love turkey hunting in the rain! Birds are vocal, come into open areas with ease. Quieter to move into position too.

    I've lost count....
A little rain is just fine, I actually prefer having the ground wet so I can be more stealth. However, torrential rain with sustained winds of 20 mph with gusts of 35 mph b/c of a front moving through is not what I call ideal ;)

    thanks 2t!!
thanks kid, she was, and me too:D
you betcha brother. You are going to have more fun watching Cain's new ventures than you can imagine.
..........just drink it at the end of the day I hope.;)
exactly! And right after a rain it's good to be set in a field they frequent. They like to dry out and find bugs and worms in those fields when the rain clears. torential rain and wind like 2t said is no good though.
yep, got one in the rain before. They are not as pretty wet, are they?

holy hoosier!! your daughter's tom is fricken HUGE. that is a thick beard on that bird!! she called it in?!!

side note..i also have a b-mobile. do you ever find birds intimidated by the full strut pose? i need to build my jake tail, like you did. i may mount the real feathers in a down position.

yeah she did some random calling until we heard some gobbles far off. She continued using her box call randomly and got him to the field. I did the purring as it came through the field to keep it coming. She had her gun in hand once he got to the field so I did the calling from there.

He was a smart bird and didn't gobble a bunch like a lot of 2 year old birds will.

The fan in my B-mobile is a mature bird fan. It got flogged twice by my daughters turkey so it looks a little rough now. Remember, later in the season you will probably want to let the fan lay down a little like you were mentioning. If you loosen the wing nut a bit on the bolt that goes through the plastic piece with the feathers it will allow the fan to lay down in a little more submissive pose.

He wasn't intimidated, but since he was an old bird he was very cautious coming in. I also think since he was alone it helped a bit too. I don't usually use B-mobile in the morning, normally in the afternoon or late day when the hens have slid off to lay their clutch or sit on the nest and there are lonely single toms running around.

Thanks alot for all the excitement everyone, 2 days later I still can't keep buttons on my shirt.:D:D:D:D

I made it out for the first time today here in West by God Virginia. I heard birds, but they sounded like they were in Maryland. Nothing even remotely close. I did hit the jackpot on the morrells, though. Not a huge find, but I only like a mess every now and then. I found 30 total, but most were small. There were alot that got frostbite last night that I just scattered to spread the spores out....Not too sure if it works, but I tried. Hopefully next time will bring better luck.

sounds like fun. Wow, that's a lot of birds, how does your limits work? We can only take one bird per season in Indiana.

i just got a tip for late season birds. set up a turkey porn set. set the hen decoy on the ground, and "mount her" with jake decoy..apparently this will fire up the lonely toms.

i went yesterday and got foiled by a turkey lover. i had a gobbler coming in, and he cut him off with is tractor. i packed up and left. sucked i had to pull the tom from the non hunters property onto the piece i had permission on.

We can kill 2 birds on the east side of Washington and 1 on the west side per year.
