I just can't take a comparison between vehicles of different eras seriously. New vehicles are far more complex. And too expensive.

'99 1st Gen Tacoma with 365K on it, which I had for 15 years, and a '02 Isuzu Trooper w/109K, had for 6, which I literally only paid one dollar for. (long story)...but after you pay a $1.00 for a vehicle, real hard to spend money on anything else. Something weird happens to one's mindset, at least with me it did. Became super super cheap when it comes to vehicles now. Why go spend $35K on a new truck, when that will keep what I have fueled and repaired for years and years to come.

Used to have '73 VW Westy for 8 years for our Sunday driver something to dick around with, but sold it 4 years ago to a guy in the Netherlands, as I didn't think it would fair well moving to Idaho from AZ. Not that I wanted to sell to a guy in Europe, as it was a kind of pain in the ass to sell over-seas...but had it on the Samba, and he offered me the most for it. Why I have a soft spot for anything VW. She had a Squareback there for awhile too, and she knows how to work on them.

Being loaded on the trailer heading to Long Beach. (sad day)

I’m really digging the larger Pro emblems. If they covered the whole door it would be even better. Maybe with an arrow pointing up at the driver......so people know who is pro.

I think the T4R Pro is the only one of the bunch I would consider next go round.

    And,

For the Taco Pro I wonder if the schnorgle could possibly be cut down like 6” and the head reattached like a compression fitting? I think it would look less silly sitting flush with the roof. Because I mean let’s be honest, even if you are the most extreme wheeler you’re not going deeper than the roof on a mud puddle or water crossing. :tumbleweed: Oh never mind, it’s a desert Schnorgle not meant for water...:goingcrazy:

Did anyone notice they call it the "Pro Desert Air Intake"? When I hear that all I can think of is that's how they're going to get out of lawsuits and warranty claims when people flood the engine or the interior or screw up something else and want stuff fixed.

More so, why add a snorkel before throwing on some actual all-terrain tires or something like some basic sliders? The snorkel does catch attention of the general consumer no doubt though... that's probably why.

Also, and this is speculation, but I'm not sure the TRD snorkel will go head to head with the ARB/Safari one. I know this one fits the lines much cleaner, but if it does so at the cost of intake size and breathability, it doesn't help the engine breathe more freely (part of the reason I bought a snorkel past other benefits). It's hard to tell much from what I've seen/been able to find but increased breathability is a big plus of a snorkel.

P.S. not trying to pick any fights or hate- just my observations.

You asked why add a snorkel before throwing on some actual all-terrain tires or something like some basic sliders?

Well, Its kinda like the jeeps I see with winches on the front and stock tires, or the ones with 35' tires and no spare. Makes no damn sense at all.

The Toyota snorkel is specifically developed for racing. You can tell because it is stamped ‘TRD’, which lets us know it is developed for racing.

The ARB snorkel is for safaris, which is why it says ‘Safari’ on it.

I’m probably going to buy both. I’ll use the TRD one when I’m racing, and the ARB one when I’m on a Safari.

Good point. Hopefully the other aftermarket players can fill that niche.
