Thanks for the birthday wishes fellas.
I spent the day on what slopes were open at Snowbowl with some friends from work.

 

Instead of Voodoo Blue, can we have Cadet Blue from the FJ40?

Edit: I know... this is technically an FJ45

 

Oh man decisions to be made. So got my first pool quote rough estimates, but will get final numbers from them in the next day or two.

Pebble sheen finish - $4300
Baja shelf/step - $2500
Auto top off - $1000
Pentair led light - $800
Rock waterfall - $2800

Now the unexpected well damnit what to do part, as he looked at the pool he couldn’t put his finger on what was different about or deck then he realized they had not done the decking as an overhang, raised the water line tile and ran a small bull nose tile around the pool to make up for the gap there would of been. Doing so makes it so the slimmer area and water line don’t really match up, and when we re do the deck it’ll screw up the whole tile area and have to be done wrong again. So that leaves up having to do it right the first time which adds another $5k for demo and decking around the pool.

Or I can continue with it being wrong and just have it not right to save some money.

Pretty much its made me just want to say f it, and take out a HELOC, and just knock out a 15-18k remodel and be done with it, and at that point maybe pull out another $10k for the rest of the backyard and the upstairs bathroom the wife wants done. All I know is adulting sucks, and continues to be an expensive habit.

I dropped 15k on a pool/decking remodel last year. Give Arnold at E&E pools a call. I had 4 different companies out to quote me and he had the best pricing, was most knowledgeable, and gives it to you straight up.

 

@Enjoihavok We have a waterfall and hate it, its only 2ft tall. When you're in the pool the water running down is loud AF, not relaxing IMO. It's only nice if you are sitting 30ft from it.

Do it then keep working till you drop dead. That's what the rest of us are doing. In the meantime enjoy your pool .

 

when we did our pool we passed on the waterfall for the same reason after talking to friends. Our spa has a 6” drop where the water flows over if we set it that way (which we do for sanitation / cleaning reasons). Loud enough for the amibiance when on the patio, but not overly loud while in pool.
