Are these wheels painted or powder coated? it seems like they chip pretty easily.

I think they are painted. Are other wheels powder coated?

Not really sure. I assumed majority of them were painted and cleared. Maybe the clean and simple look of them highlights every little blemish.

Yea, I can buy that. No one is as anal as me about shit like that. I do lose sleep over the littlest things sometimes. As I get older though I realize that if I don't stop that, and join the fun once and a while, eventually it will be too late. I'm not saying you should trash your rig and not care about how you feel about it, but if you get a couple dings, some pin stripes, or have to touch up a chip, and you feel like you satisfied your inner demon doing it, then wear the badge proudly. If we're afraid to use these wheels that would be such a waste.

All of our wheels are painted. Not sure why you would say they chip easily. If someone is going to use improper equipment to mount and balance them then yes the paint can chip. If you're going to off-road with them and rub them against rocks/boulders/trees/hard clay then yes the paint will chip. Our dark wheel finishes will tend to show more scratches than OEM slighter silver finishes. Just like black paint. They look great when clean, but it will show any swirl/scratch immediately.

I apologize, it was never my intent to put the wheels down in any way. I'm actually a huge fan of them and looking to get a set when they become available again.
With that said, you can't deny the fact that a substantial number of these wheels are getting damage during installation. Maybe there's a need for a caution label attached to the wheel when new, stating proper installation instructions.

I was pretty clear with the manager at DT when I said if they can't mount and balance my setup correctly without damaging the wheels just let me know and I'll take them somewhere else.

He said it wouldnt be an issue, and it wasn't.

Probably didn't hurt that I was in one of the most affluent sides of town. The kid who did my work told me he works on all kinds of high end cars.

Just have to go to the right places and talk to the right people I guess.
